What terrible coil packs.

I had a 4th cylinder misfire on my 04 Cayenne Turbo and decided to look at the coil pack which was cracked about 2mm on the upper tube. I replaced it and my misfire was gone. I decided to replace the others and found ALL my coil packs were cracked. Yep all 8 at the upper tube portion. I cant believe how bad these are. I have owned about 50 cars and never had a single coil pack go out.

Anyway. I replaced them with discount direct coils...lifetime guarantee. How could Porsche have such crappy, important parts? Funny how a generic brand has such a good guarantee and Porsche has poop.

Does anyone know if the 996 C2 and 996 Turbo have the same cheap coil packs? I own those cars and thinking about replacing them all to prevent a potential major issue if they have the same cheap coil packs.

Thanks.

I had a Lincoln LS that had serious issues with coil packs. Lincoln covered them but the dealer was only allowed to change the bad one(s) so it ended up being multiple trips to the dealer before all 8 were replaced. Known issue and all they would do is replace them with the same crap part. I don't have the car anymore but I think someone finally made an aftermarket one which was not an option when I owned it. Total pain!

See my signature...My Lincoln's passenger seat just shorted and burned my Navigator to the ground. I'll never own another Ford for anything. I do love my Porsche's and I'm sticking with them, but I wish they would improve their quality control. If I couldn't do the work myself, I'd have to sell them all. $$$$$ Dealer $$$$$$

Ouch! Fire is never good anywhere in a car outside the cylinders. Well maybe a few flames out the exhaust now and then.

Hmm, had the recline motor in my LS fail while driving down the road one day the seat just fell back about halfway. Happened while it was still under warranty though so luckily I didn't have to pay the close to $1,000 bill to replace the little "D" battery sized motor.
