Cayenne Turbo S Owners - Please Read

Hey all, been trying to find the holy grail of aftermarket front rotors. Doesn't exist for us. The closest I found was some 380mm x 38mm rotors at ECS tuning, but they are for audi and therefore do not have the correct bolt pattern or hub size.

I emailed ECS to see if they were planning to make an aftermarket part and they responded:

Hello,

Unfortunately at this time we do not have any info on a kit for your car. But if you get enough people interested in it and get them to start emailing our customerservice@ecstuning.com, That would def help get our R&D team to see what people are wanting us to develop.

Please let me know if there is anything else I can help you with. Thanks for choosing ECS!

Please email them and express your interest. We may all be able to save a lot of $$$ if they could produce something for us. Thanks!

Check out www.carid.com and look at their EBC rotors. You can get a pair for as low at 150$.

I've had EBC rotors and pads on all of my previous BMWs and Mercedes and never had any issues. Unless you're tracking the car, I think they are a great option for street driving.

Thanks for responding. On the cayenne ctts there are no viable aftermarket choices that are less expensive than OEM or OES.

It would be great if they could get a manufacturer to make just the rotor ring for the 380mm two piece front rotors. To have to buy a new complete set every time is ludicrous but they seem to be pretty specific specs that Porsche had Brembo make and there probably isn't a big enough market for this one oddball size for them to make "aftermarket" parts available.

ECS already has a 380mm kit or just rotors available but they are Porsche parts and with the two piece rotor are stupid expensive.

Someone pointed me to these guys after I bought mine from ECS and they "were" looking like a cheaper replacement but now I see they found out the 380mm set were a LOT more and raised their prices accordingly...go figure.... the ones I looked at earlier were also not 2 piece but if they worked just as well or better than stock I wouldn't really care about that. http://www.r1concepts.com/details/pr...rsche/Cayenne/

I figured before I'm due next time I'm going to contact Girodisc which is a semi local company to me and see if they will or have made anything that will help reduce cost some. $2,500 for parts to do rotors and pads is a pretty steep brake job.

Like I mentioned if someone would sell just the rotor ring (and new bolts/hardware just to be safe) there is no reason the top hat can't be re-used.

I sent a note to Girodisc. We'll see what they have to say.

I assume that we're talking about the front discs on the 955 Turbo S. Odds are that for most vehicles, they will only have to be replaced once during the life of the vehicle. They can be bought online for about $685 each. Given the small universe of vehicles and the very long service life of the rotors, its easy to understand why no one has jumped in with aftermarket product.

Mine needed to be replaced when I bought mine at about 75k miles. It looked to me like they probably should have been replaced before that actually. Of course that could have been due to poor maintenance or something too but no way to know that.

So I suppose if you consider 150K miles the life span you may be correct. It just seemed odd to me that even Brembo doesn't sell just the rotor rings so you have to buy the whole thing including what is probably the most expensive part the big heavy stainless top-hat.
