2016 Turbo vs 2017 GTS

All options being equal, close to same miles, and the price being equal. Which would you choose?

I currently have a 2013 S, and looking to upgrade. Thanks for all the input. I can't decide. lol

Turbo power is addictive. Once you have all that under your foot, anything else feels a bit anemic. I always say if you think you don't want a turbo, then don't drive one.

I went looking for a GTS Cayenne when I was shopping and guess what's parked in my garage...

A Turbo S

Nice!

I know I will like the Turbo more hands down. What I am debating in my head is the newer year and extra year of warranty. Is that a big deal or not?

I'm not the best one to respond to that question because even though I bought my Cayenne in 2016, I specifically sought out the 957 generation for multiple reasons. I'm a DIY guy so the warranty means less to me (I don't have one), but if you don't work on the these cars yourself, they are expensive to fix when they break.

As each year advances, there are more electronic nannies and aids, none of which I like, so I'd say the extra year of warranty is a plus but the year newer tech wouldn't be for me - maybe you appreciate those add ons - Park assist, laser cruise control, lane departure prevention, etc, but I don't, and also don't know the differences in them from 2016 to 2017. As an example, the auto start/stop function was changed from one year to the next where initially it could be defeated with a button and it would remember the setting. The next year it had to be turned off inside a menu each time the car was started, but I think that was in 2018 so a little newer than those you're looking at.

I bought the lowest mileage 957 turbo S I could find (28,000 at the time) with most of the options I wanted (didn't get PCCBs or 4-zone climate control) in black over black (since I was doing a color change and widebody conversion to it), because I want to keep it for 15 years or more, figuring 7,500 miles/year, as it's our family trip vehicle. I retrofitted 958 PCCBs but can't do anything about the climate control - oh well.

Absolutely love it - mods and tune have it around 650 HP.

Thanks a lot. It was brutal while it was going on - 18 months, but now that it's over, worth it.

Here's the build thread if you're interested - https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...s-project.html

"All things equal" are the key words. If you like the looks of the GTS better but want the performance of a Turbo or Turbo S then look for one with the same bodykit as the GTS. I don't recall the name of the package but I believe the package also comes with gloss black painted mirrors, grill, and rear diffuser. If you don't find one with the package plan on spending $4k+ on the bodykit, painting, and labor!

Good luck and let us know what you decide.
