Cayenne Turbo flash: long term impressions on GIAC or FVD?

I want to get a flash for my 05 CT and based on a search of the archives have narrowed my choices down to GIAC or FVD.

From what I read both are great, but I didn't get a lot in the way of long term impressions.

Can anyone comment on their impressions with either programming in terms of drive ability and perhaps fuel economy (just curious on the 2nd part).

Also, if you could include how many miles you've had the programming for.

Thanks!

I have looked into this with FVD on 2 occasions. In each instance, the benefits were not worth what you could get from performance, etc. What are you getting for the reflash and what is it costing?

Either the GIAC or FVD are right at $2k, but for the 05 CT you gain another 50 HP and similar torque. From what I read, drive ability improves as well.

I'm sure with your newer truck, Porsche has improved the drive by wire response...

My main reason for asking between the two was that I have heard a lot about GIAC in the Audi/VW arena as well and am just not as familar with FVD.

I have had an 04, 06 (2x), and 08 (2x). I never asked until the 08's about upgrades. I have had an FVD on my GT2, and I would say that they are professional, and Champion does a good job with warranty. Yep, you get motor warranty with FVD and Champion importing the reflash. I have spoken with them and they are good people to spend money with.

I have had my GIAC flash for about 2 years now, and have nothing but amazing things to say about it.......Valet mode is great ( unless your a valet) and kill mode is spectacular.......meaning you cant start the car unless the chip is reverted back to one of the "running modes" ( stock, valet or pump)....mine was done by Mike @ AWE Tuning in about 30 mins......

Not to mention......Porsche now does GIAC "flashing" at the dealership.......Talk about not having warranty issues!!!!

GIAC For The Win!!!!

As for fuel economy.......Im getting around 440miles to a full tank.....and this is driving very aggressively.....

GIAC is proven. Ask for Sharky's opinion.

Thanks for the feedback, Is the 440 miles/tank in chipped mode or stock?

I was going to get the stock and 93 programs if I do it.

Also, is the only way to switch programs by connected the flashloader to the OBD port?

Valet mode-- kills the turbos and restricts RPM's making it drive like an "s" with a very low speed restriction.....

Pump--is the 93 octane "flashed" mode......there is another setting for "race" on the flashloader, but thats for the lucky P-cars who have a race fuel tune available....

Stock----Is back to stock mode with the flash off......

Motap- I am getting 440 to a full tank with the flash..... along with all of my other mods, which has now includes Turbo S intercoolers......

Yes the only way to switch programs is by the flashloader, but it literally takes all of 5 seconds

Thanks again for the response. I would like to do the flash and the secondary cat bypass pipes.

Did the Turbo S intercoolers make a big difference? How much do they run for?

The Turbo S intercoolers made a HUGE difference, boost is achieved MUCH faster and MUCH smoother.......

They ran me $1100 each from the dealership, I also needed the Turbo S ductwork for a perfect fit.....The whole install with all the parts was under 3k

Does anybody know if there is any company or person that can to a personalized tune to the vehicle aka a dyno tune. I just want to actually get everything I can out of the vehicle with the stock turbos. Any help would be appreciated.

You need both intercoolers as well as the aluminum ductwork going into the engine bay, and i believe you also need a new bumper piece, due to the enlarged size of the intercoolers.
