Sell 2006 Cayenne Turbo for 2006 E55 AMG?

Ok I've been thinking of selling the CTT for some time now. I actually posted in another thread my withdrawal from the C4S I sold earlier.

As much as I love the CTT, it doesn't quite give me that nice fast, nimble feeling.

I'm not looking into getting into a go-kart, but I'm looking at a nice 4 door sedan that will put a smile on my face when I occassionally mash that throttle. I posted in this thread earlier about getting into an E39 M5, but I've now decided to go for the 469hp 516 ft. lb. torqued out E55AMG.

The only holding factor now is trying to sell the CTT at a reasonable price.
I've listed it here which I think is fair in comparing to the Manheim auction prices I've listed below. So my question really is, if it's selling price is decent and the car is in great condition...why aren't there many interested buyers for the CTT? There's not many hits in general on many of the other CTT's on autotrader.com.

Do you guys think it's the increasing gas prices again? Or is our CTT just really not that popular?

My thoughts are that most people are not going to shell out $40k for a 5-model-year old vehicle. Especially one with 60k miles and you-either-like-it-or-you-don't looks. I think I'm done using hyphens now.

I'd say just take what you can get and get that E55 chipped and pullied!

My guess would be the age of the vehicle, not fuel injected, miles, ect... Vs new ones and new technology.
Come June your pepper will be 3 facelifts and technology old.
They deminish fast with those factors going against you...
If you want the amg, sell the cayenne for what you can and get the merc. If price
is your factor, you'll hold it for a bit I'd guess....Good luck

ever drive one? E55's are about the same as a CT. I had an e60 m5 and when I drove a e55 I thought it was sloppy and irritating to drive. maybe a new cts-v? (I don't like american cars - but people apparently buy them).

Really? I also thought about E55 as a replacement of my E39 5 series. Maybe I should just stick with BMW, in fact it would be M5 for sure.

Do you think the sloppy was due to the automagic vs. manual tranny?

Well I got tired of my e60's lack of low end torque for a 4200lb car. Once moving it moved. As for the e55 its brakes would have me in rear ending a car at some point, Mercedes steering is numb, and it seemed to run out of air at higher rpms.

I really want to love the forced induction e55's, but I feel like its just pretending (stick some 30 profile wheels on it, boost it, quad exhaust, and sell to the uninitiated.

wow, mixed reviews so far.
There's some that say the CTT is better off than the E55, but in what way exactly? Presence? Performance? Exclusivity? Driving feel? Connection to the road?

By the numbers the E55 smokes the CTT. Modify both, and the E55 still performs better overall. As far as steering response and road feel, I'm not sure. For an SUV the CTT feels planted to the road, but it can't outcome physics...it's weight can definitely be felt.

The E60 M5 is a consideration, but I vowed not to go BMW (at least with the new ones) since BMW screwed their customers with the 335's constantly failing high pressure fuel pumps. It really ticked me off when they blamed it on the 10% ethanol in the gas and stated it was the customer's fault they filled it with 10% ethanol.

Didn't know about the 335 issue. I just got tired of bmw after having two e60's in 5 yrs. Does Audi have anything? RS-? I just don't like Mercedes- didn't like them before Chrysler bought them and really don't like them now that their design team had an impact on their styling.

I've owned both. E55, especially K2 to K4 mods will always be faster, but you are comparing apples to oranges. The Cayenne Turbo is also very fast, more practical with regards to payload, all weather conditions, and is more comfortable for long roadtrips. You need to decide what you need. The best combo of the two above cars is a Panamera turbo with all wheel drive, and modded would likely be just as fast if not faster than a e55.

Here's my take. I owned both at the same time, a '06 CTT and a '04 E55 that had the tune/pulley/etc.

The E55 was fast, had nice looks and very comfy. However, there was always something minor wrong with it. Never major just little things that would annoy you.

The CTT, nice looks, very comfy, very fast for a SUV. Thing is bullet proof and have never had issues with it.

I trade the E55 2 days ago for a '08 977tt, I could not give the E55 away, there are a ton of them out there. I doubt I will ever own another MB.

Keep the CTT IMO

I had a 2006 E55.

Any Cayenne, including the Turbo S model, is slower even with mods. My bone stock E55 ran 12.1x@115.xx on the stock tires at sea level. When I frequented the E55 forum at mbworld.org, it was not uncommon to see experienced drag racers running 11.9-12.2 in stock form. The car was a monster from a dig, I ran several 1.7 shorts with it and that was on the stock Contis.

I loved the car, one of the most fun cars I've owned.

Reliability on any newer German car is hit and miss. Just look around this forum - plenty of people on both sides of the reliability argument with Cayennes.

Ok, so I pulled the trigger. Just sold the CTT and got the E55 AMG. Too early to give a review to compare. Really can't give an equal comparison since it's apples and oranges, but so far the E55 AMG fulfills what the CTT can't...

That addicting torque when you want to step on it!!!!!!!

Sure, the CTT is quick...for an SUV, but it's absolutely no comparison.

Don't get me wrong, I loved my CTT for the same reasons you all love it, but since I no longer have the weekend 997 I needed a ride that could serve as a comfortable 5 seater but still have that "sporty" feeling. Sure, it's no Porsche...and it's definitely not a substitute. I'll be back in a Porsche in a few years, but for now the AMG will have to do.

BTW, I never had the chance to utilize the crossbars I purchased. So if anyone is interested in a practically new set, I posted it here in the for sale forums.
