Exclamation Cayenne required 93 Octane gas?!

Hi everyone, I read that Cayenne required 93 Octane gas??? I don't have any Octane 93 gas in my area, San Francisco. Does anyone drives a cayenne without 93 octane gas? any difference? any damage this will cause? Thanks

I think CA has 91 Octane. According to the owners manual the AKI will adjust to lower octane, but I think it cannot be lower than 91

Thanks guys, I've been filling up 91 Octane, but I saw a station with 100 Octane in Woodside CA, will go there and try some 100 Octane and see the difference.

My only octane choices are 85, 87 or 91. I've used 91 in my Cayenne and my 911 for years without any issues.

Octane 100 gas in San Francisco is $7.00 but I talk to many other guys who came around the bay area just to get Oct. 100 says you don't need a full tank of 100, a guy told me he mixed 10 gal of 91 and 3 gal of 100 and see a great difference and extended driving range. another guy says he add 5 gal. of 100 to his modified supra and feels the car can fly. I just put 5 gal to mix with 15 gal of 91 just to see, will let you guys know.

Curious what you notice as results... I'd be willing to give this a try as well.

So I mixed 5 gallons of Octane 100 gas into 15 gals of Oct 91 gas and see the difference, now I had driven 300 miles, I can give you guys an update.
I filled the tank with 15 gal of 91 octane, then added 5 gal of octane 100, my first impression was NOTHING. I feel no difference or very minimum, kind of disappointed. maybe because I didn't mixed properly? I should add 7 gal of oct 91 then 5 gal of oct 100, then 8 gal of oct 91??? the second day and third day I drove it, it seems the gas burns better, in city streets little acceleration keeps the car going, I don't really need to press the gas paddle, after the cars start off the stop light, it seems the cars goes by itself. passing lane and quick acceleration to beat the light is also better (better throttle response) I think it will give me more driving range compare to oct. 91

Unless your cayenne is tuned to take advantage of the higher octane you will not notice any difference. The higher octane is less prone to detonate during the compression and the computer can advance the timing to take advantage of this. I would not expect to realize any difference with the 100 octane other than a lighter wallet. If you use a lower octane than recommended the knock sensors will detect any premature detonation and the computer will reduce the timing to account for the earlier detonation. You are really wasting your $$ on this "mix".

Interested to see how this works for you. Computer should retard the fire to adjust for octane ratings. I wouldn't expect a higher efficiency at higher octane. But I'm more than willing to be wrong.

thanks for all your response, the reason I think it burns better because it does require a lighter gas pedal, seems like driving a car with "fuel injection" and one doesn't. but for the $7+ a gallon, I have more fun/better performance feel if I use the "SPORT" button. I probably won't add any more octane 100, when I needed, I'll switch to "SPORT" mode.
