best cayenne to own for the money? reliablity? - what to look for

what is the best non-turbo cayenne to own for the money? looking to spend 20-25k on a car, puts me somewhere in the 05-08 cayenne range. how does reliability look like on these cars? just hate to get myself into a money pit.

thanks guys

I think for the intended budget..you should be able to get a 957S. just like any other used cars, proper maintenance record and PPI. good luck.

I once read, buy the newest Porsche you can afford...I've broken that rule a few times :P I think you will be happy with any v8, however the 08's and newer ie 957 and 958 are lookers in contrast to any non TT 955, imo. Why are you not wanting a turbo though?

The annual Porsche buyer's guide (which I just received for the year) says......Best Value = '03-'06 Cayenne S. Best Daily Driver = '08-'10 Cayenne Turbo. If it's for pops, he needs to decide what standard features he wants (they grew in number each year after introduction) or whether he just wants a Cayenne. If so, the oldest one he feels comfortable with, with the lowest mileage.

Im looking for a DD/tow rig and the 955 S seems like best bang for the buck although facelift on 957 really helps the ugly face.

Welcome to the group. I'm always curious why (you may know) someone/anyone would want to buy a luxury vehicle, coveted by hundreds of thousands of men worldwide, that they think is ugly? If you don't love the vehicle, why bother? Not being a smart-A$$, simply wondering. Also they are durable and great vehicles but, even though they aren't a money pit, they will/can cost you around $2,000 per year in general upkeep and average repair. Be ready for that as well. "Porsche Tax" is serious business.
