Pulled off shifter, now not working, HELP!

I pulled off my shift **** in hopes to find a broken magnate so my Tiptronic will work. After pulling my **** off in neutral I hear a snap and it comes off pretty easily. Now I put it back on and it doesn't shift. Any ideas? Is there a proper way to re-install. Did I do something wrong taking it off? PLEASE HELP, this is my DD and I cannot drive it.

pull the button out a little and insert on shaft. there's a little in the shifter that grabs on to the white part's hole.

Sorry William, but I have to........ Doctor it hurts when I do this......... Doctor - "Don't do that". Really be careful what you pull off/ out/or remove from a Porsche without a planned attack as it can be very costly when something goes array.
