FM Reception Trouble-Shooting, HELP
FM Reception Trouble-Shooting, HELP
Just bought a 2009 GTS, 6 spd. man. with lots of bells and whistles & 53K on the odo'. What a tremendous machine, and Oh that engine(!)... but having a bear of a time getting any FM reception to speak-of.
Previous owner had a fancy Kenwood DNX-8890HD with two Amps, Subwoofer, etc. installed before I got to it. I removed head-unit and found the "antenna trigger" wire connected to the White wire in the car's harness that is for the powering of the antenna Amplifier located in the Rear Spoiler. This wire from head-unit only for triggering a motorized lift...NOT an Amplifier power feed. Checked voltage at termination behind radio (to antenna amp) and was nothing. Thought I had nailed my problem
...Wrong
Re-Wired to deliver a strait 12V DC to this white lead (in console) with Key-On and now verified that amplifier in spoiler is getting 12V DC at key-on via the red power-lead connected to the end of the amp. Unfortunately, still Terrible Reception.
A few Questions:
1.) Is the Amplifier in rear-spoiler supposed to get 12V DC?
2.) What is service history with these little amps (if anyone knows)?
3.) Anyone have a TEST for this amp to see if it is good or dead without having to remove the Radio again? Radio and harnesses are Stuffed into the console and a ***** to put-back.
I have the 10,000 page "Factory" manual on CD that I think is lousy. There are very few / no actual voltage & resistance specifications for testing anything in there. It also takes a huge amount of time to find pertinent sections of the manual for the given task and it seems like some sections are displaced or missing??? Any others experience this?
Does anyone know where a source of for a Proper 2009+ mod. yr. manual can be had with Real test Values to look-for in the car's systems?
Standing By for ANY assistance and Thanks Very Much In Advance

It would be a Huge Help if a Technician here (or other knowledgeable fellow) knows if a full 12V DC is the correct Voltage for power wire to the Upper-Right FM Amplifier inside the Rear Spoiler (?).
I ordered a new one form Atlanta for $103.00 and would like to know my supply voltage is correct before I simply plug-it-in....
Thanks & All the Best,
Steve
