Changing The Remote Key Battery

I just changed both the CR2032 batteries on both my key remotes and not they don't lock or unlock. They were working when right before I took the batteries out...

I changed the outside skin on one of the remotes and had to take out the battery on the second remote to make sure I put everything back together properly.

Now both remotes do not work with new batteries. CT starts and drives fine but now I get a "key low battery" icon on the center display.

How do I re-sync the lock and unlock and trunk release buttons...?!

Yeah, batteries were in the correct position + side up.

For some reason the two new batteries were low out of the package...went and bought another pair at the store and both remotes work again...

Battery shelf life can be a big deal. I keep all my batteries in my refrigerator.

Bringing remotes back to life ... ?

Just went through a motor transplant on my 01 carrera cab that took 3 months and found that my key battery was low. Replaced the battery and fob seems to work, because red light flashes. However it does not activate the door lock. What gives?
