Since I bought the car , 957 cayenne turbo stock , the gears when decelerating from 130mph+ , the gears make a loud whining noisy . And now that I am at 650hp and +25% more torque I am a little worried , it feels like the transmission is going to explode ,

Any thoughts or experience ?

 

I haven't trusted my old tires to take mine that fast yet. Have you checked fluid levels in the trans and diffs?

My 955 has been silent and smooth decelerating from 135-140 prior to my cardan bearing going out last week (I haven't had the guts to take it up beyond 70 mph since I did the repair even though its as smooth as ever at normal speeds). I dont think that what you are experiencing is normal. Does it only makes sounds or is there vibrations also?

 

Only whining sound , I can feel it coming from the gears wright under my feet . Or maybe its my mistake and it is a brake problem

 

Since I have a 957 and have seen those speeds frequently, I can tell you that it is not normal.

Dragging brakes sound much different than gear whine (much higher pitched). If it is gear whine, I would suspect the transfer case or differentials before the transmission.

Speaking of that, do you know if you have the same size tires on all four? Do the tires have the same amount of tread on them?

 

Yes same 295/35 tires everywhere .

I have these problem when breaking , so maybe its a tire or brake problem . It will hear it again tomorrow

 

Did you check the fluid level in the transfer box too? That's probably closest to your feet. Not sure if you meant you changed all the fluids or if you checked them all. If you didn't change them I'd think about maybe trying that first?

I think I may be looking at doing my front wheel bearings as I'm getting a little growl from the front left. That is more a feel though than a sound.

 

Just came from a spirited drive .Definetely the noise is coming from the tires or brakes

Yeah thats for sure.. Have to loose some money first on a radar detector .The speed limit here is 50mph and I was 70mp , with some calls I got away this time (10minutes ago) . Its the 3rd time this 2 years and the next time they are going to take my driver license forever !

Any suggestion on radar detector ?
There was some at 500$ and some at 200$ like cobra 7800 BT or whistler cr85 , any experience on these ?

The V1 does everything I need except laser jamming. You will spend a lot more money on the Escort but it can be set up with laser jamming.

Just two examples though, there are other ones out there but one thing I wouldn't buy is a cordless one.

If police don't use laser where you are, v1 is all you need. I got a few tickets from laser with it so I let it go with the car when I sold it since I felt it really did me no good in that area. I bought a 997 that had a beltronics sti-r with laser interceptor installed and that was an amazing set up even against laser. After having that, I haven't used a windshield mount detector. I wish I would've taken it out before i sold the 997 because now I don't want to spend the money to buy another one.
