V6 sport mode acceration.

Have 2014 v6 cayenne, i know these are slow ones relative to s gts and turbo but it seems stop and go acceration on sport mode gives way too much throttle on start. It sometimes starts with violent pull of the car if i am not careful in the city with sport mode. Im not sure these trans are prepared for these abrupt pull. Am i safe to start hard like this on sport mode? Really it feels like a m3 just for that 2 second til 2000rpm...Just a paranoid cayenne owner thank you in advance~

I have the same inquiry. I use to drive on "Sports Mode" all the time & felt acceleration was a bit abrupt off of a complete stop (at a light). The other day my Check Engine light came on randomly, so I stopped driving in Sports Mode. Maybe our engines aren't broken in yet? My 2011 Cayenne is just about to hit 20k.

Lou.

Woah...check engine light? Did it go off by itself? I think porsche setup our v6 engine on sport mode to give way too much throttle response on start cuz the car is way too slow in my opinion...it is absolutely fine on highway driving but in the city sometimes i forget its on and when the light turns green, I accelerate and my car will jerk violently seems its a matter of time something will break...wonder what other owners feel about this though...

My warning light did go away on it's own after a few days of driving w/o Sport Mode.

I don't have a problem with it. If you pay attention to the gear indicator, you'll see that you're in 1st gear much longer when in Sport mode. In regular mode, it almost immediately shifts to 2nd gear. Add to that the increased throttle response and you have to get used to the difference in initial acceleration.

Everything you've described sounds fairly normal - sport mode is pretty abrupt and does hold onto first gear much longer.

If any dash indicators come up or flash, be sure to get it diagnosed - preferably with a PIWIS tester.

Let me know if you have specific questions, always glad to help!
