Should I change brake pads and sensor on my 2013 Cayenne with dealer?

I have a 2013 Cayenne base, which is still under warranty. I got a quoted for replacing front brake pads and sensors (no rotors) for $966 from dealer. Can I go to a non-dealer place to get this done? This shouldn't void my warranty in any way, right?
Thanks,

David

I think you already got this answered on RL, but no you shouldn't let your dealer rip you off like that. You can have anyone (including yourself) do it without any warranty issues as long as you use appropriate parts and follow the proper procedure.

Everyone should be familiar with the MagMoss Act which specifically covers the now banned practice of MFGs voiding warranties if you didn't use dealers for service. It's mostly talked about in regards to modifications, but it applies to all work on your car so it's good to have a basic understanding of it.

You can go to any independent shop to have your brakes replaced - it won't void your warranty. Same goes as having your services (major/minor) done elsewhere as well. We have a number of customers who strictly bring their cars to the dealer only for warranty work while we do all the maintenance/upkeep items - it works out well for them!

Thanks a lot, I didn't realize the two forums are well connected, just wanted to gather as much advice as possible :-). The MagMoss Act is good pointer, thanks!
