Yea, saw this a few days ago...!

We'll see if it gains any traction, i'm sure the large car enthusiast following will definitely have something to say to this. Definitely not a subject that will go over well!

I really hope this doesn't happen. Made me kinda sad to see Porsche as one of the supporters of this.

From a legal standpoint, manufacturers are just trying to relieve themselves from any harm caused by third-party mods that write/modify the computer. Honestly, I think the manufacturers should work more on making things secure. If modifying the computer is easy, it's vulnerable to attacks which can really be dangerous..

I don't think this states you can't modify your car (intake, exhaust, etc), but rather not make changes to the computer or software running on it. I have a tune on mine and I know many others do too, even if they do move ahead with something like this, someone will figure a way around it.

why should we be able to modify their engineering and not void the warranty and relinquish manuf. from liability?

right now everyone is modding **** left and right and then undoing it when they take their car in for service, sell it, etc.

to me transparency is best. i don't want to buy a car somebody fried with a tune but has 20K miles on it. neither does a dealer. nor does manuf. want to be liable for the engine blowing up on the highway.

im ok with lockdown if they have system to approve certain mods from third parties. sure it will add to the expense but its fair.
