Hey tresean, no worries!

At the end of the day, it's your decision and you'll be the one driving/enjoying the vehicle for years to come, but I'll just give you my impressions between the models, given I've driven almost all of them (Driven 955/957 S, 957 GTS, 957 Turbo, 958 GTS, previously owned 955 Turbo, and now own 958 Turbo).

09-10 GTS will be a 957.
TT is for Twin Turbo on this site.
You mentioned looking for "blacked out window trim", that's what I was referring to with wrapping or painting the trim.

chassis models
2003-06 - 955
2008-10 - 957
2011-14 - 958(.1)
2015-17 - 958(.2)

Differences between 957 & 958:
- Complete redesign of the chassis, interior, and body. I took my '06 Turbo (though not a 957, almost same body & interior) to the dealer for maintenance and was given a 2013 base model loaner; I never looked at my interior the same again. The way the seats hugged, cockpit style interior, new steering wheel design, infotainment was MUCH more refined, hell I think it may have handled a bit tighter than mine did in everyday driving.
- 09-10 GTS has a 6sp tiptronic, 11+ "S" has an the newer 8sp Aisin transmission. BIG difference to me. Every 6sp transmission Cayenne I ever drove had an odd hesitation when going into corners, if you slightly hit the gas it would have a delayed downshift and high rev as if you were gunning it. Hated that in the 6sp transmissions. The 8sp shifts crisp, but also smooth. I always feel like I have power, no matter what gear I'm in. No more odd hesitated downshift feeling as if I'm trying to race someone.
- Though hp is pretty much the same between the two, there's still around a .5 second difference in 0-60 times (many online sources differ, but your in-seat experience is pretty noticeable).
- Orange button lighting & dash background - looks like early age VW cars, almost analog to me. The 2011+ has full color dash, even with Nav in the gauge cluster & white LED button lighting now.
- In the looks department, I understand that you don't favor the '11+ models. I was initially in the same boat, but now I feel that pre-2011 Cayennes look ancient. The headlights are reminiscent of the 99-04 911's, which are possibly my least favorite 911 model. The taillights are squared off, and Porsche has increasingly gone to more linear tail lights on all their models over the years.

Like I said, it's going to be your car, I'm just sharing my opinion & experiences from driving many different Cayenne models so that you can be as well informed about them when you decide to buy. There's plenty of 2011-2012 Cayenne S' that can be had for $22-30k now, which may not have been the case when you started looking 10+ months ago.

Awesome, thank you for that---that helps a lot. So I assume on these forums a CTT = Cayenne Turbo, and CTTS = Cayenne Turbo S?

Thanks for the comparison. Is the 6spd tranny of the 957 harsh, or is it livable? Right now I have an 8spd F10 Bimmer, which I think shifts pretty quickly and smoothly. However, the 5sp of my E550 fit the 392 lb-ft of torque, and suited it pretty decently.

I am trying to stay sub-$30k for price. How does a 957 GTS stack up to a 958 base or 958 "S" (I know the 958 GTS is gonna be above that price range)

Yes and Yes (CTT, CTTS)
I mean the 6sp livable in my opinion, but after driving & owning both, I would never go back to the 6sp.
- Note, that the 09-10 GTS has a shorter gear ratio than all other models for those years. It'll feel like you're downshifting and high revving more so than other models.
Though I have driven both F10 5 series & multiple E class models, I can't really find a way to compare them with a Cayenne.
I honestly think you can get a well optioned 2011-12 S for around 25-28k right now, with more vendor support for those year models.
You won't find a 958 GTS under 40k, given all 958 GTS' are 2013+.

Ok, so does that mean the GTS was not produced for MY 2011 and 2012?
The reason I liked the 957 GTS in the first place was because of: body kit, sport exhaust, std air suspension, nicer wheels, and blacked out or body-color B-pillars (I hate the contrasting silver B-pillars). How does a 958 "S" stack up to a 957 GTS, in terms of sporty looks and performance and standard features?

No GTS for 2011-12
I hate the silver window trim also, but when I was shopping I didn't worry about that. You can have the trim wrapped in flat/gloss black for pretty cheap.
I feel that the GTS is always going to look sportier, even more than Turbos do.
With that being said, personally I'd still take a 958 S over a 957 GTS.
958 S is MUCH more comfortable and MUCH better fuel economy. Also interior, touch screen nav, bluetooth, all the controls are much more refined. Hell I can put my nav in my gauge cluster next to my speedometer.

Okay, well in that case maybe I will's search for a 2011 S model then. Are there any model years to avoid (any known issues)? I know sometimes the first model year for a body style change is problematic. As far as the 958 S, is that turbocharged or naturally aspirated? The performance isn't going to be on par with the 957 GTS is it? What what I be able to do to a 958 S to give it the sporty look I was going for with the 957 GTS?

Help!!

Hi guys, so the GTS was sold before I had a chance to get to it. :-(

So now I have my sights on a CTTS. I need extreme help...below are the service records for the vehicle in question. Can someone who has a CTT or a CTTS please help me decipher the records and Porsche lingo, and tell me if it was in the shop excessively---or if the things that were done to it were normal and expected. Just wanted to compare this vehicle's service history to that of someone else's to see if things line up. Please tell me if you see anything unusual or to be concerned with. I am desperately seeking someone's expert and knowledgeable advice...

You can see several times during that service history the owner(s) have reported the smell of fuel/exhaust in the car. That would concern me a bit. It seems it also had to be towed in due to possible engine failure (acceleration). Definitely more then just routine service done on the vehicle with some things that would steer me away (transmission noise) on a car that's potentially 6-7 years old (my guess based on dates above).

Thermostat replacement/steering pump are minor, but transmission & engine problems are another beast. Not to mention, at some point in the ownership of this vehicle the oil-cap popped off the engine and made a mess.

bzliteyear is on a distinguished road
Lots of great info.
My take after owning my GTS for the past six months, in case this is helpful for others.
1) i LOVE the way the GTS looks
2) i LOVE the way the GTS sounds/roars
3) i agree w/ others, the GTS ride is rougher than i thought, even rougher than the Turbo/Turbo, and i have it in softest setting
4) i would have gone Turbo as it wasn't much more $, but I thought GTS more reliable, plus resale i anticipate GTS to be better than Turbo, imho.
Patrick
