1966 911
Hi all - I've got a 1966 911, that has been in the family since it was new - Grandpa, Dad, now me, my oldest will get it at some point.
The care is new to the NYC area (I'm not) and am looking for a good - but reasonable mechanic to work on the car. Cars that old are pretty simple, so could maybe even go with someone that knows their way around VWs...
It has had quite a bit of work, but still isn't quite right - backfires a lot once it starts up.
Work in the last few years:
1. Upper End Rebuild
2. New Weber Carbs (possible it just needs a carb tune up and that is the problem?)
3. New Tires
4. New Brakes
5. Tightened suspension, slightly bigger sway bars
It needs some light cosmetic work - some new or refinished chrome, a little work on the paint, interior touch-up, and it has a leak somewhere in the trunk that lets water in when it rains (Have not been able to find source).
Recommendations in the NYC area?
