The example about the hairdresser has nothing to do with the best, in reality " the best" will always be subjective to each person's opinion. A consensus of quality that is quantified is the real benchmark, not a fad or spin making things seem much better than they are in reality.... another example is your at the airport, you want a sandwich it's tuna the cost $13.95 now am I cheap to think this overpriced or am I not understanding the quality that went into the sandwich? 10 out of ten people survayed say " ahh me thinks not" the only reason the sanwich is purchased by anyone is that you pay or go hungry.
Paul Dalton goes thru all the steps a real pro needs to, but in reality the person in the end who needs to know how much clear there is to abrade is the detailer doing the work, there are some guys who spend more time talking to the client and laying out the chemical and tools than just getting into the work itself and letting the finished product speak for itself. Now as a service myself who charges top dollar(and for good reason) I am also realistic and can tell when top notch work can graduate to foolish self promotion and remember another real pro can determine who's who in the zoo as opposed to a client that cannot tell the difference .
When someone says " I am the best" that is the redflag to know they are not, it should be " I feel I am one of the best" let me SHOW you why .
