How to get ride of deep scratches

Some tosser engraved the letters A on right hand side door and M on the boot of my cayenne. I think the scratches are pretty deep.

Just wondering what can I do to clean them up? Is there anything I can do? I would appreciate any help!

I was thinking of calling the police and getting a report from them to get the insurance to pay for the damage.

cheers guys

Some pictures would help. If the scratches are deep, you can feel them with your fingernail, then it's through the clear. Depending on how deep it is, it can be wetsanded to the point of elimination or reduction in visibility. If the scratch is through to the basecoat, then really a repaint will get it back to oem. Your best bet is to file a claim with insurance and just repaint. But each case varies, so please post some pictures so we can better diagnose.

As Moe already said, the best rule of thumb is that if you can feel the scratch with your fingernail, then it is going to be too deep to be removed through any form of sanding or polishing. If it is that deep, then it is most likely completely through the clearcoat, and any method of correcting it other than repainting it will be much more harmful than helpful.

So check to see if you can feel it, and post up some pictures, and we can fully diagnose what the problem is and what your solutions are.

Even if they're too deep, wetsanding and polishing them down can round off the edges and make them much less noticable, but if you want it perfect you'll have to get them repainted as mentioned.

It's all depends how deep it is. It's very hard for us to diagnose without a picture. If the scratches goes throw the clear then it's done for. YOu will have to repaint, but it's not through the clear, then polish may do the trick.
