Help with black car?

Hey guys i am looking for a bit of help. I picked up a Black Porsche TT and who ever detailed the car honestly did a HORRIBLE job! The Passenger side is all streaky from the buffer it looks terrible, How do i get rid of it and make it look presentable?

Your best bet is to find a top notch detailer and let him machine it and finish it off with the right products.

If you're a novice to detailing this isn't a good car to attack on your own. If there are streaks or swirls from previous machining It will take an expert.

If the streaks just from other products then You may get by with stripping off the other poducts, claying, polishing and waxing.

are you willing to try this out yourself?

if so you will need an orbital and some good polishes.

here are some videos:

I have a Makita Orbital Hi-speed buffer. so i am going to attack this myself, I used to do detailing over 20 years ago, when it was all about hand polishing.

i see if that's the case I would pick up

Menzerna SIP and Menzerna PO85RD.

An orange pad and a blue finishing pad.

Do you mean the Makita 9227 High Speed Rotary?

Just be carefull, I've done plenty of Black 997TT's and found there paint to be VERY soft. You're going to need a few different products and pad combinations to acheive a perfect finish.

Depending on how bad the swirling is, my process for your car would be:

Wash/Clay

Menzerna IP or SIP (Abbrassive polish) via Orange or White polishing pad (Depending on depth of swirls)

Menzerna 106fa/f (Light polish) via black finishing pad

Menzerna Final Polish II (Finishing polish) via green finishing pad

Top with a sealant such as Klasse Sealant Glaze or Optimum Opti-Seal

Top with a carnuaba like Pinnacle Souveran

This combination will give you an ULTRA deep/clear reflection and provide decent protection.

Have fun and be sure to take some pictures!! If you've got any questions, feel free to ask!

Standard black Porsche? Not Basalt right? What a coincidence...

After experimenting and advice from Phil, here's what I use.

If it is just smears and swrls...

Flex or Porter Cable random orbital buffer
PO85RD3.02 aka Super Intense Polish + Orange Lake Country pad
PO85RD + Blue or White Lake Country pad

About an afternoon's work should fix the problem. It really works well.

Thanks guys for the info! I am going to order up the product and give it a go, I don't see a problem doing it myself as i used to detail cars/boats 15 years ago but haven't bought any quality products since then.
Again thanks!

Do yourself a favor and drive across the border and let Phil do it!

I've seen some of his examples....just do it.
