Post detail squeaks
I had my new 997.1 detailed a week ago. Came out great - looks great, smells great, feels great.
Only problem is my dead silent, zero noise issue car which stayed that way over a month as I drove and had it only hand washed 3-4 times now has a minor squeak / squelch coming from either my passenger seat or right rear area after my detail - can't really be sure from exactly where and driving me a little nuts trying to isolate it.
Is this a common thing to happen after a detail where the person probably spent a lot on time moving in, pressing on, and just shifting around inside the interior?

Squeaks can be pretty annoying, but a tech should be able to do something about it. I would just tell them that it has developed a squeak. Unless you know the dealership well, I wouldn't mention the detail. Some dealerships are quick to blame someone else for the issue without fully diagnosing it first.
D!
As a pro detailer I'm a little bias, but in all the cars I've ever done I've never heard of cleaning and detailing a car to cause squeaking.
As Moe mentioned, my only thought is did he remove the seats to clean under? I usually just slide them all the way up and all the way back.
Is the car brand new 09 or preowned?

Brand new in the sense I'm the first owner - it was one of the last 08 997.1 made and still on the dealer lot before I bought it.
Positive that the seats were not removed as part of the detail. I suppose it is possible it is just unrelated coincidence that my squeak noise developed right after my detail job.
I had the interior leather conditioned and I was wondering if somehow the squeak noise might be the leather between the fold of the passenger seat or the rear drop down seat back rubbing - long ago I remember a BMW I had once had that happen, and a microfiber cloth inserted between the fold stopped the noise.
Unfortunately I tried that trick on the porsche and it still squeaks. I guess I'll swing by my dealer and see if just the mere fact of approaching the dealer will make the car noise stop as we all know a tech ride along magically makes most noise issues dissapear until you are back home.

Perhaps he used a strong mix APC or a degreaser and removed your lubricants. Just my 2c
Move the seat forward/backward a few times, change the height...perhaps it will go away

So I fixed it - but I'm not sure exactly how, just that it went away. I eventually zeroed the sound as coming from my right rear fold down seat. When I folded it down, zero noise - put it back and locked up, noise.
So I used a microfiber cloth to wipe the seat and side of seat back as much as I could - the detailer used some kinda leather conditioner or cleaner that leaves the shiny kind of looks. I prefer the mat look but anyway, wiped a few times but still had noise when the seat was in the locked up position.
So I wedged my small microfiber towel lengthwise against the side which bruses up against the right side chasis - there's nothing there to rub against but that seems be where the nosie came from. Anyway, noise went away. Remove the towel, noise comes back.
So I left it in and been driving around the last few days that way. Today I pulled it out just to test it again and now there's no noise.
Maybe I have some gremlin playing games.

· Before performing any adjustments, be sure to unbolt the seat from the vehicle while keeping the electrical seat harness connected.
· With the seat unbolted, use the seat control switch to move the seats over the entire adjustment ranges; i.e., all the way forward, back, up, down, etc.
· Bolt the seat back; the majority of complaints will be remedied by simply loosening and refastening the seats.
If it's the leather upholstery causing the noise there are products that will fix them (Lather Master's Aged Leather Revitalizer)

I find that if the rear seat-back is not locked securely, it squeeks. Make sure it's in there good and solid. My car had the same squeek for the first month I had it, until by accident I found that the rear seat-back was not fully seated
