Scratched front plastic lip on turbo
Scratched front plastic lip on turbo
Wasn't being careful in a parking lot and accidently scratched my front lip on my 07 turbo ... its the front lip plastic stock piece
The scratches aren't to deep as i brushed a curb (what an idiot i am). Was wondering if anybody has tried sanding it down or what would be the best approach to trying to restore the lip back without discolouring etc. i realize it'll probably never get back to new but at least to the naked eye, i just want it to look decent.
Any ideas would be appreciated.

Is the lip that dark grey almost black looking color??
If you don't replace it I would just color it in with a sharpie or even touch up paint that matches, at least the discoloration will be gone.

Some of the grooves are pretty deep ... i was able to get a better look after i got home.
I don't know if i did the right thing but i took some really fine grit sandpaper and sanded a small section of the front lip. there was some discoloration (ie got lighter in color from the sanding) so i applied some Black Wow to it and its not perfect but its does restore the color almost back to its original color.
so i used the same methodology to the rest of the scratches and you can only notice it if you are staring right at it and within a few feet.
I guess this gives me reason to buy a new aftermarket lip

Sanding it won't do much. You're going to have to apply the black wow all the time now because it's the product that's making it look better. Once it washes off, you're left with the dull areas where you've sanded.

The lower plastic piece on the turbo gets scuffed a lot. The only thing to do is to replace it. Should be around $150-200.

it's really great stuff.
D!
Thanks for the tips ... the black wow stuff seems to repel water as its quite oily so it might last a few washes.
Never thought about the satin spray paint. Guess i would have to remove the lip to prevent overspray and to get a nice clean coat.
