Interior oops, need help!
Interior oops, need help!
Hi guys,
I've picked up great info on detailing here, but I need some advice. I have a 2003 CLK 55 AMG with 30k that I picked up. Yesterday I wanted to wipe down the interior and used the 1z plastic and rubber deep cleaner followed by Meguires natural shine conditioner. I only used it on the drivers door panes so far because I wasn't sure what happened. I noticed that the rubber/vinyl door panel seemed to loose it's sheen after the wipe down. I don't mean matte, but more like it took some finish off and made it look kind of flat, almost like a scuffed texture. I'm not sure if I did something wrong and if it can be corrected.
Secondly, I found a scratch in the silvere metallic plastic that surrounds the shifter on the armrest/console. Is it possible to remove that without damaging it? I tried clear plastic polish without much success, but was afraid to do anything more aggresive. If anyone can help I would really appreciate it. Thanks and glad to be part of the forum!

Moe gave me some great advice and I'll try using the Autoglym interior cleaner as well as the Swissvax conditioner. I'll try a few cleaning rounds and see if the flatness is just the original finish free of whatever cleaner the dealership may have imparted. I'll post picks of my ride as soon as I give a good once over. Thanks for the interest and reply to the post though.
