I just bought a Flex and haven't used it yet. Has anyone had experience with lubricating the felt ring on the back side of the backing plate? I have heard that it's a good thing to do. What is a proper speed setting for applying a mild polish? Thanks for the help.

Moe is the man to ask. I bought my flex package through Moe. Great service and always willing to answer questions when I am working with it. The art of "the customer always comes first" has not been lost by Moe.

I can't wait to see his new product line too!

How bad is the car? You just spray a 2x2 area & clay it, go back & forth with light pressure, then feel the paint, when it is smooth you are done & move on. Claying a cared for car should take 20-30min, & about 3-4oz of clay lube.

Also don't clay in the sun, & you can spray the lube right before you wipe with the clay.

In general, spread the polish on setting 3 and then work/break down the polish on setting 5 or 5.5....I never take mine to 6....really heats up the machine and it gets too loud.

Moe - thanks for the tips on the Flex. Any comment on the need to lubricate the felt ring?

I use the flex on 6 all the time and never had an issue. If the company didn't want you to use it at that speed it would come with a top speed of 5. No?
