Questions about detailing
Questions about detailing
I have an Artic Silver, and I detail my car regularly. I have used a lot of different wax products on different cars such as Mothers, Meguiar, Perma Plate and Zymol. None of them really post fantastic results. My car only has 14,000 miles and the paint condition is smooth, but under lights, there are fine web scratches.
For about a year, I've mainly used Zymol Titanium. Some dude at Super Auto Bacs told me "Titanium" is for silver paints... Now I know it's not true. I want something that can repair my clear coat to that new car finish. I did a little research and came across Zymol Glazur Glaze and Concours. I know there are waxes that cost thousands, but those are not within my budget. What are my other options within $100/$200? Thanks.

I think the Glasur is a fantastic wax for your car. The most important part of the finish is going to be the paint correction. Once you have it corrected, you should be able to maintain the finish nicely with Glasur, or Titanium, or even Concourse. Site sponsor Moe from Glistening Perfection is in So. Here's a couple good reads on detailing which will get you started in the right direction:
Auto detailing guide
Step by step detailing article
If you don't want to do the work yourself, then visiting a quality professional like Moe is certainly your best option. Once the paint is corrected, if you follow the proper washing and drying techniques, you can maintain the finish swirl free for quite some time.
Hope this helps,
George

So, if you want to do it yourself and have a polisher, here's a great kit within your budget:
http://www.glisteningperfectionstore...ish-Kit/Detail
This kit is less than $200, and will take care of the imperfections you speak of. Then you can apply the zymol products you have and be amazed of the results.
Otherwise, I', more than happy to polish your car and hand it off to you or do a complete detail.
Hope this helps.

Well said John. The real results from any detail come from the prep work on the paint which includes washing, claying and polishing. If you master those steps, any wax you use will look stunning and you can begin to appreciate what some of the higher quality products have to offer. If you simply wash and throw a coat of wax on with swirls / fine scratches in your clear coat, it won't do much to improve your finish.
