For now, I will pay for waxing, but I want to be able to wash the car without screwing up the paint. Something I haven't been able to do in the past! I am ordering a de-ionizer and a foam cannon. I see so many websites for products, is there one to avoid? I got a Griot's catalog in the mail, and the local AM dealer uses their products exclusively. Is it safe to order from Griot's? Not terribly concerned about price, just want good products. I have some of the crappy microfiber towels, (the ones that try to stick to your skin) I tossed them this morning. Is there a specific brand thats best?

Found Detailers domain site... think I'm on the right track...

 

I first got my hands on a Griots catalog about two years ago. Became extremely addicted to the catalog which kindled my passion for detailing all my vehicle ever since then. As a token of my appreciation, I started using only Griot's Garage (GG) products and am extremely pleased with their ease of use and results are spectacular. They are on the expensive side especially if you take into account the shipping charges. But every few months when I order stuff worth $125 or more to replenish my detailing supplies, I time it during their 15% off sale and usually just drive up there and pick it up. They periodically have free detailing clinics that showcases their products. I suggest you check when their next one is due. Richard Griot's is a genius when it comes marketing but having said that I have never been disappointed with any of his products. The most common comment I have heard is that you get similar (or sometime even better quality) products for the price you pay for GG. There are several people who support the detailing forum here at 6speed. Phil @ detailer's domain and Moe @ Glistening perfection (to name a couple) are great educators on detailing techniques for mortals like me who always learn and want to strive for perfection. You certainly cannot go wrong by buying the line of products they carry. Their work speaks volumes on their craft. In fact it is a very good idea to support them for all their time and effort they put in for us. The next time my detailing closet needs a refill, I will be turning to Moe myself. Both of them also periodically run specials including free shipping, so please be on the lookout and time your order. Good luck...one word of caution: Washing and detailing cars can be very addictive especially if you are passionate about your cars.

 

Swirls and micro scratches don't necessarily come from what you are using to wash the car. Often they come from the drying process. As long as you are using a quality wash mitt, a grit guard, you shouldn't be scratching your car during the washing process.

I personally use an AirWand to dry my car. Some use leaf blower, others swear by AirMax pet dryer. The more you rub your car the greater the chance of scratching it.

 

So the de-ionizer must be a good investment? I like the idea of not having to dry it off!

 

The CR spotless makes a very good unit. For now, I am not able to justify the cost involved in refilling the resin and cartridges for a deionizer. I am hoping that DrScoles proves me wrong so that I can go and get one.

 

It seems there's a good interest in the cr...so we'll have a group buy up shortly. If you use the cr with a pressure washer, you can go months, some have told me almost 6 months, before changing the resin. And if you buy the resin in the 6-pack on our site, it's basically around $75 per refill. Not abad deal for having a tool that works.
