How do I clean tar/rubber marks from film?

My car has some factory installed protective film in front of the rear wheel wells and, after a day at the track, said film squares are full of black residue which I assume is probably melted rubber from rubber pellets on the track or some tar.

So far, I tried to wash the car (p21s soap + water) and also tried concentrated p21s total auto wash (citrus based) and elbow grease to remove these marks. I got most of it off but a couple just won't come off.

Do you guys have any ideas? I wanted to check with the pros before trying something more radical like goo off or lighter fluid. Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks,

T.

DetailedDesigns is infamous around these parts
I have always had great success with p21s total auto wash on cleaning slung tire rubber marks off of PPF.

Please don't use a solvent based cleaner on your PPF.

Thanks. I'll try some more with p21s TAW tomorrow and report back.

If I may ask, do you let it sit there or do you buff it out immediately?

I will play with the dilution ratio. Sometimes I just do a pretreat then wash and it comes off. Sometimes I have to go 100% TAW, let it sit then wash.
