well let me first explain my background in detailing i had i white 997 tt that i use to polish no swirls that are visible . used over the counter products like turtle wax and stuff . when i got my aston i decided to do every thing my self so i went ahead i googled every thing possible about detailing ( if i knew this forum existed 3 months back it would have been awesome u guys are very helpful and professional) so i went on bought the everything possible a clay bar (zymol) the lube i got a polish but i did a hand polish then i hand waxed it with zymol concours the results where ok . what really impressed me was the meguiars NXT 2.0 the results where fantastic .
so last month the swirls really bothered me and i wanted them gone for good . so i looked every where for professional detailers ( what amazed me is the amount of exotic and luxury cars that are here and saudi and not one proper detailer )

until i found the zymol authorized detailer i was so happy to see it i went in amet the owner and he gave me a tour and showed me the portfolio of cars he had done slr's bugatti's enzo's lambo's you name it . so he offered me the following package 2500 usd for a full detail paint correction then using the royal glaze and the package also includes a monthly visit for 50 usd for a quick cleaning and a coat of zymol royal so it sounded good i paid him and got my car in to be honest it was in bad condition swirl marks every where so they started and told me we need 3 days i came back they asked for another 3 days . the car was amazing i even used the scope there was not a single scratch or swirl then they applied the royal wax . they told me not to wash the car for 3 days and i didnt i took it back to them for washing and when i they did that and under the lights they have in the shop i saw swirls buffing trails scratches on the headlights chrome trims and i noticed like a wavy pattern on the reflection of the paint .
sadly the laws in this country is nothing u can really count on they would even drop the case just because detailing is silly and not really a common thing here . so i really had to deal with it my self i went this morning to the detailing shop i talked with the owner and showed him the car and expressed my disappointment the guy apologized and promised me he will deal with it and get the job done correctly . and he explained why he wasn't able to remove swirls he stated that he used zymol HD cleanse 1 pro line which is a mild abrasive but it wasn't powerful enough he tried another compound but they are mild .

since zymol doesn't manufacture polishes only glazes he always used scholl heavy cut compound then moves on to a fine cut . but he is out of stock and had none available he said his shipment will arrive in a couple of days . and that should do the job perfectly

i still have my doubts am not sure if this product is safe and will it do the job ? and what about the chrome trims is there any way he can remove the swirls ? headlight ?
will these products eliminate the wavy pattern am seeing ?

personally ill buy the kit and start working my self on the other cars i own
When we were testing some of the HD Cleanse Professional line, the results were not what the manufacturer claimed. We had all 5 polishes. Unless the paint on your Aston had severe sanding marks or deep scratches, not sure why someone would want to compound. The Menzerna SIP/Super Finish combo has always worked well for us on the Astons. Find out what your paint measurements are before these guys decide to polish again. Ask them what they were, in the last two details, as well. If he's compounded, there was some clear removed. And now, being the 3rd time, it would be smart to find out the readings. Have you asked them to return your money? You may be better off doing it yourself; especially, since you have some detailing skills. Buy a FLEX polisher, some CCS pads, and some Menzerna polishes...you'll be able to take care of it yourself.

WOW!!! That's terrible. I can see why they compounded. Well, let us know how it comes out. Like I said, a reputable shop will do anything to make their client happy.

well i do live in a very dusty city cant help it they didnt compound it yet they used a couple of mild compounds and hd clense 1 thats all they did in the last 2 polishes .

this time they said they will use the scholl medium cut compound to remove all scratches . if still they didnt do a good job with the swirls and the buffing marks then ill ask for my money back .

in all cases am still intrested in the menzerna and the flex . ill try doing my other cars before the aston .

so the car is with them ill c whats the outcome

what causes the buffing marks ( holograms ) ?

This is a good example of why its important to wipe the paint down with some type of paint cleaner/ solvent to remove any oils which are hiding the remaining imperfections. If a detailer is not doing this then there may be temporarily hidden imperfections (holograms, swirls, etc.) remaining in the paint. (Yes this happens with Menzerna polishes too!)

Yes that paint needs to be compounded.

Holograms are typically caused by inexperienced rotary users and a failure to complete the polishing process correctly. Some types of paints are also more prone to holograms than others.

It blows my mind that it took them 6 days to do, cost you 2500, and all they used were mild polishes which did not correct the paint. And the fact that there are now swirls in your chrome trim and headlights tells me they might not have taped the car off.

I would suggest you try to find a qualified detailer. Someone who's not just a car washer who will say they do whatever or everything just to get you as a client.

I am not making the statement that they absolutely are that way. But no qualified detailer would hand your car back looking like that.

Hunting for a detailer who is quality focused is not necessarily easy. It may take a lot of effort. But the guys who take pride in their work will be intent on keeping you as a client for life.

I wish you the best and I am sorry to see you got so burned by the last guy. All of us here fight with the image those guys put on our industry.

Even worse? WOW! Those before pictures are the worst condition AM I have yet seen......looks like it was dragged with a towel over with sand from the desert still on it!!!!

Black looks great on this car, but silver does too and keeps the swirls down.

Good luck with it, a competent detailer can get this fixed but all this work will continue to take down the clear.

I am not a pro detailer, but for what it is worth, there might be a possibility that the person doing the buffing had not completely cleaned their pads before starting. I know that sounds stupid, but in your area the dust can be incredible and filters into everything from what I understand. A pad could look clean but still have that microscopic sand dust embedded in the surface. I keep my polishing / buffing pads stored in plastic bags, and I still blast them with compressed air from my garage compressor before I use them. Again, I know this seems elemental but if a pad already has dust or grit, it will swirl the finish even in the most careful hands. I even give brand new pads a blast of air.

Again, most good details will think of this. I only mention this because I know that some do not think of it. No offense intended to anyone on the forums.

May you get your car to the level of finish that you want.

It is a USB Microscope. You can pick one up for about $100.
