HOW TO REMOVE helicopter tape from fenders?

I have a 1996 993 that I bought used with helicopter tape applied to the rear fenders. It's cracked and looks grimy. Any suggestions on how to remove this stuff? I did a search of the forum for 'helicopter' and nothing came up.

I've read mention elsewhere about using a hair dryer to remove adhesives. Will this damage my paint?

Thanks in advance!

Appreciatively,

mtf

Are you referring to the "shark fins" in front of the rear wheels that come from the factory? If so, the easiest and safest way is to steam them off. If the film is cracked, it will come off in little pieces and you will curse a lot during the process. It won't be easy or pleasant, but it will be worth it.

Matt,

That's what I'm talking about. What type of device do you use to 'steam' it off with?

Appreciatively,
