need expert advise on paint detail

Questions. Can someone tell me the colored pads *what they represent*? Also if you can see the bottles products, what would be recommend with which pad. I understand there are lots of variables. I usually have the problem that I don t get into the clear or paint enough to remove any marks. Also, what can be done by hand. I don t want to put the polisher to the Porsche but have used it many times on my other rides. As far as the porsche, looks great except for the direct sunlight exposure, then you can see tiny marks. Thanks.
PS< Sorry, the second black bottle is compound.

I'd prep your pad first: http://www.detailedimage.com/Ask-a-P...-you-prime-it/ then use the Perfect-it III with the white pad and if it's not enough move to the blue pad. I hate wool pads and that's the only reason I'm not mentioning it here. Are you using a RO or rotary?

3M Foam Pads
Manufactured using ultra high quality European foams, and have been specifically designed for compounding, polishing and finishing all forms of modern paint systems. The firm pre-polymer compounding foam used for the fast cut pad is non-reticulated, and thus offers a high degree of mechanical cut, while the remaining pads all utilise softer thermally reticulated foams with an open cell structure, which allows air to circulate through the pads and thus reduce heat build-up caused by friction

Compounding Pad (Green) - this non-reticulated open foam pad has an aggressive cutting action that will remove deeper scratches, serious swirl marks and heavy oxidation when used in conjunction with heavy polishing compounds.

Polishing Pad (Yellow) - this reticulated, open foam cell pad has a moderate cutting action that will remove less serious swirl marks and restore a high gloss finish when used in conjunction with light polishing compounds and finishing polishes.

Finishing Pad (Blue) - this reticulated, open foam cell has a light cutting action that will remove marring and faint swirl marks and restore a high gloss finish when used in conjunction with finishing polishes

Notes:
1. Always select the least aggressive pad you think you will need to achieve the desired result; and step up one grade at a time if more cut is required.

2. Always ensure that excess polish residue on the face of the pad is brushed off regularly during use using a Pad Conditioning Brush (failure to follow this advice can lead to micro-marring of the finish

3M Perfect-It III Range

1. Fast Cut Plus (50417) - Medium to Heavy Cut abilities, fast, effective swirl and scratch removal

2. Extra Fine Compound (80349) - Excellent finishing capabilities with enough abrasive ability to remove minor defects

3. Ultrafina SE (50383) - The lightest abrasive of the three polishes, leaves a perfect finish ready for sealants and waxes, also ideal for hologram removal.

Tom@3dproducts is infamous around these parts
hope it isn't too late

I'll answer your questions.

Wool is your best bet to remove imperfections. White is a polishing pad, so that would be used for step 2. The black is a finishing pad, good to finish with.

The blue pad is made for Ultrafina finishing polish. Softest of them all. Ultrafina is good at hiding, so you may or may not want to use it.
Use good protection to lock in the gloss. Wax often.

Tom
