Clear wrap on a black car

What kind of perfection should one expect on a clear wrap on a black car?

What if car is color sanded before installation of the wrap?

What is the standard?

It should look like it isn't even there. The only visable part would be any edges: If you only did the leading edge of the hood for example, expect to see the edge or a 'line' where it meets the paint.

As far as color sanding, or getting it professionally detailed/corrected. I would recomend this as it will get your paint under the wrap as close to 'perfect' as possible...

Choosing the right installer is the key. The film can only be worked with and installation be as flawless as the installer's skill. Seek out the best installer you can afford in your area. Check out his/her work in person.

No need to color sand...you're removing healthy and valuable clear coat. If you want a film that's clear and has little orange peel, Suntek Topcoat is that choice.

absolutely have the paint corrected, or at least polished before having it installed, any imperfection will be trapped under the wrap if not

Technically, you will not see any swirls or scratches once the film is applied...it acts as new clear coat

With that said, the correct way, IMHO, is do exactly as you've suggested. Clay, paint correction, touch up chips if any, and apply the film.

I wanted OP to know, huge difference with wet sanding and polishing.

@ MoeMistry is right. filming is the best way to hide any scretch and color less body. before installing the film we need to polish and clean our vehicle. After film installation we get new look for our vehicle and our previous is stay protected inside the film.

Should the area to be wrapped be waxed? On my Speed Yellow GT3, I just did the hood's quarter front. I assume on a black car the edge of the wrap would be evident, so, do the whole hood? Thx

No no wax. It will not stick well if you wax it. Are you installing it yourself?

No, pro installer, but one said wax ok, other two said no. First one eliminated. So, it's a choice between SunTek and Expel.

XPEL actually states on their site to not apply anything under the film. Just polish it, touch up any chips, etc., then wrap, and apply a nano coating.

As for which film, have the installer put a piece of each on your car and look at the reflection and orange peel. Both films are amazing and have their strengths and weaknesses.
