I have found regular detergent to work just fine, and the m/f towels last a long time. Usually the towels need only a little detergent since they only get soaked up in polish or wax, and aren't really dirty.

From what I've heard on vinegar though, people use it instead of detergent in the washing machine... I'm sure you can soak them as well.

Spray them with some lysol multi-purpose cleaner and then wash them, good as new!

I use 2 oz. of Micro Restore and a splash (2 oz. roughly) of vinegar in the washing machine on a hot cycle (140 degrees). They come out great! I also try to wash the really dirty towels separate from the polishing ones so they don't cross contaminate.

I have a front-end loader washer. I been use Tide HE Detergant and fill the bleach section with vineger. Works great for me. I haven't bought any new towels in about 2 years.

Where is this "micro restore" from? I've seen Pinacle's Micro Rejuvinator, is that the same?
I have been using Ivory laundry detergent and vinegar with good results in the past but recently moved and the water is incredibly hard ( no water softner) and the towels are coming out rough feeling.
