I have a 1988 car with original paint. Do I need to do things differently in regards to polishes/waxes? What would you recommend I buy for polishes? I have a porter cable...so what pad/s should I be using? Many thanks for the space!

Since yours is that old, you need to find out if it's a single stage paint, clear and color mixed in one step, or multi-stage, where the top coat is clear over the color. You can test a small area by rubbing gently with a mild polish and microfiber towel. If you see the color of the car, you have single stage. The wax isn't your big issue here, the polish and correct pad combo is. Try that and then let us know.
