134282 is infamous around these parts
Easy, folks... I consider myself a car enthusiast and while I can tell the difference between a 993 and a 996 (and a 997, and turbo vs normally aspirated), I immediately start struggling when it comes to air cooled over water cooled and whatever else. Just as easy as it is for me to tell the difference between Ferraris, it's that easy for you folks to tell the difference between 911s.

There are myriad differences between the 360 and the F430. The 360 never came with carbon ceramic brakes (except for the Challenge Stradale which, while nearly identical in appearance, isn't officially a "360"). In the US, the F430 was the first Ferrari V-8 to come equipped with headlight washers (see the little square-like cut-outs in the front bumper beneath the headlights?). The F430 mirrors have dual arms whereas the 360 has a single arm. The F430's taillights protrude from the rear like the Enzo's taillights, where as the 360's taillights are simply round and stick out from the rear fascia a bit. The F430's front grilles are flared nostrils a la the 156 Sharknose Formula One car of years past. The 360's front grilles are almost squared with rounded edges. The circular vent behind the 360's doors were made more angular and aggressive on its predecessor; same with the vents in front of the front and rear wheels. F1 gearbox-equipped F430s have a mannettino on the steering wheel whereas 360s with F1 gearboxes do not. There is way more of a Challenge grille on the rear of a 360 than an F430. The headlights on an F430 are thinner compared to the 360. The five-spoke wheels on an F430 are all split as opposed to the solid five-spoke wheels on a 360. The Challenge wheels on the F430 were not an available option on the 360 (the 360's other wheel option was "modular" wheels, which contained many rivets just inside the lip). The F430 has a front splitter between the two grilles whereas the 360 does not. The F430 has two thin, rounded rectangular taillights above the exhaust pipes whereas the 360 does not. There is a Scuderia badge in the center of the engine on the F430; the 360 does not have this. The 360s with F1 gearboxes have levers that engage reverse, whereas the F430s with F1 gearboxes have "R" buttons that engage reverse (the reverse lever on the 360s is fragile and very expensive to replace).

There are many other differences, but those are visual and easy to identify once you get used to it.

I agree. I just don't see enough of them to get familiar. I probably only run into maybe 5 or so of these on the road per year.

lots of little things that make them different but in the end. same body from Maranello. they are actually called the same model number when it comes right down to it. i do agree they look different to me but i have one of each. in the end if they were porsches they would both be like a 996 with different badging. not a 996 and 997. they do drive a little bit different.

as far as the statement that a gt3 can bury one. lol. my gt3 rs can't keep up with my 360 spider in the corners at high speeds. my gt3 is the best porsche i have ever owned including the 997 GT3 cup car I race
