Maserati Gran Sport
Maserati Gran Sport
Okay here is the listing for a 2005 Maserati Gran Sport at Lamborghini Chicago: http://www.lamborghinichicago.com/20...ort--c-886.htm
Problem: My mom has come across this listing and has fallen in love with it, and the price lol. Yea, "ironically" just before Christmas.
Now, does anyone know anything about this car specifically, or anything about Maserati? Are theses good vehicles? I've their transmissions are disappointing and uncomfortable (well about the Quattrope or however u spell it).
I posted it here, because I didn't know exactly where it would fit, but Ferrari has part ownership in M anyways right?

I don't have a lot of experience with these vehicles. But if I were you, I'd try http://www.maseratilife.com/forums/
BTW, in 2005 Fiat was given full control of Maserati, thus separating it from Ferrari. So the answer to your last statement is "no." Not since 2005 at least.

LMAO. She saw this thread and said, "who is this bastard threatening my shoes". lolol (i love my mom).If you were my father, you'd be out in the yard lol. But yea, good point tho'. I told her it isn't automatic and she said, "oh".
Thanks lol.
Yea, I don't have any experience or deeper knowledge on Maserati. I love that they are super rare. in Sept. I saw a blue Maserati spyder at the gas station in Kenosha, with Illinois plates I believe.
I really love how rare Masarati vehicles are (at least in the Midwest).
have you seen the car in person? if not go see it in person, it's stunning
it's not "super" fast but handles very well it's really just an amazing look cruiser..the block and some engine components are from the 430 so it's high quality no doubt, besides the clutch issue which I know nothing about it should be a super solid car
just to reitterate (sp?) it is an AMAZING looking car

The DuoSelect transmissions are tricky and have lots of "got cha's" to them.
She needs to make sure she understands what's she's buying!

I've got an '06 Gransport as my DD and it's a great car. The GS's fit and finish is better than any Ferrari I've owned. Of course it's not nearly as much fun to drive as my 430 but for the money, there's nothing else I'd rather have.
The CC tranny is much much better than say the 360's F1 but it's definitely not for everyone. However, it does "work" a lot better in the GS than the Quattroporte.
PS - seriously consider full leather instead of the britex material. I really don't like the way it looks but even setting personal preferences aside, it gets really dirty, frays and catches.

GSs are HAWT, but people buy them thinking it's an automatic. The clutches wear out in 10-15k if you drive gently; ironically they last longer if you drive in sport and hammer the fark out of it. If she has an understanding of cambio transmissions and works with the car, it'll be a great decision. If she's buying it for looks and poser value, she'll absolutely hate the maintenance costs and fragility of it.
I miss mine. Part of me wants to pick up a GS.
Ferrari and Maserati were put under the same "development umbrella" at Fiat when this car was built. The Cambio transmission, Skyhook suspension thingy and Lord knows what else are Ferrari parts. The engine was designed and built by Ferrari for Maserati and shares it's basic design with the 430's. Ferrari and Maserati are no longer partnered as Maserati has been moved over to Alfa Romeo's umbrella as part of the GM agreement.

I thought GM was completely out of the deal having paid nearly $2 billion to FIAT to leave?
