Buying Ferrari 360

Hi Guys,
I am new in this forum. I am planning to buy a 2nd hand Ferrari 360 F1. Is there anything particular which I need to focus when I choose the car from the market?
My location is in Hong Kong

Do you ever go to the Sunday morning drives in HK? Lots of P car and F car guys. If you are a regular, you can get a ride.

360 are hard to find and drive in HK since roads are narrow, esp in parking lots.

Having said that, they are fun and great with a tubi.

2003+ are best since they have upgraded F1 programming that is faster shifting and less jerky. Watch out for typical issues like variator, timing belt (every 3 yrs), clutch life (12-15k mi). Have a PPI done by F dealer. All F cars are pretty much serviced by dealers in HK so they'll have the service records which is a good indication on history of the car. Most are rarely driven so be sure they are maintained as scheduled.

Thanks for your advice. I am not regular for the morning drive for a long time.
Yes, I will continue to look for any good one in the market.

Hi Guys, BTW, how do you compare F360 with Lamborghini Gallardo?
F360 is V8 but Gallardo is V10. The sound must be different.

Make sure that you always have a spare $20,000 US up your sleeve for servicing and always make sure that the car has had it belt service done before purchase otherwise you will be up for the bi expene. Usually this service is done every 15 - 20,000 KM's.

Good luck with your purchase!!

Victor,

You should spend considerable time learning about the 360 series prior to buying one. You will avoid considerable problems.

If you are after an F1 I suggest you drive one first. You should also find a reputable Ferrari mechanic there to ensure you have good coverage for all issues.

Ferrari's are great cars, but you have to think of them as quite different from other makes.

Service is a key component to their longevity.

It makes no difference if coupe or spider. They inherently behave the same.

Take your time and avoid costly problems.

i loved my 360 before getting my 430's. i would be ready (not for sure) for $3k to $4k US worth of stuff a year. I think 2004's and newer are much more reliable. be careful on purchase lots of these are coming up on timing belts after the 3 year mark and if it's not done it will be with service $7k to $8 US at an AD. So watch the pricing they are dropping pretty quick.

You'll love the car. Drive it hard and have some fun don't park it in the garage and look at it. Buy a Piccaso for that.
