30 Million Dollar Ferrari 250 GTO

I guess there is a rumor out there that a Ferrari GTO sold for $30 million.

Needless to say, $30 million would buy an incredible Ferrari collection, but I guess any serious collection would be incomplete without a GTO. Insane.

Here is an article about the rumor.

That's insane - I remember reading that a 1961 Ferrari 250GT California Spyder went for 11 million at auction, it was the most expensive car to ever be sold at an auction and was the exact car Cameron's dad had in Ferris Bueller's Day Off, except it was black

That California was sold in May at RMs Maranello auction. It was only a record for a 250GT and far from being a record price for a car at auction. (The Ferris Bueller car was a replica, btw )

There have been two 250 GTOs change hands in the last two months...

One car is confirmed sold at USD$28.5M plus a $500K commission. Seller was in the UK. Buyer in Scotland.

I believe the second car was sold by a long time owner in Italy. When I confirm, I'll post.

While this may be the high water mark on GTOs, the MB W125s are insured at $50MM each and the RR was offered $100MM for the original Grey Ghost, IIRC, which they turned down.

I could easily the 250 GTO is by far my favorite car ever produced. Seeing them in person is unbelievable, the lines on the car are phenomenal to my eye at least! The performance and handling are pluses too, for the era they were built in.

But I just hope by the time I have that kind of money, there are still a couple around.

It's too much money for only one car.

Gregorio Perez Companc bought three Ferrari classics in 20M dollars.
