I think I will replace my porsche 930 with a ferrari 348. Anyone have any advice when looking for this model? They seem to be a little hard to find, I can't find any close to me. I would like to find a red one with exhaust and wheels already on it. Anyone on here came from a porsche and been disapointed?

In order to find the 'right' Ferrari you may want to consider broadening your search outside of your area or even state.

The only thing is, you can't drive em everywhere like the Porsche.
Parking
Driveways
etc

If Diablos were a bit less expensive I would sell the 348.

You should consider a 355 vs. a 348. It is a much better car for the $ and does not cost much more than a 348.

 

I would go for the 355. My dad had one a couple years ago. Timeless looks and incredible sounding engine. They are around 10-15 grand more however..if you can stomach that, I would go for it. Def get a PPI though...

The 355 is a differnt car from the 348 but it has considerable issues.

So make sure if you do find a car do the research to ensure the known problem areas have been corrected.

 

I have heard that 355's have more expensive problems then the 348 (ie valve problems) That is why I initially was focusing more on a 348, I will have to so some more research on the 355's it sounds like though.

 

O yeah, the early ones (1995-1997) had the valve problems, I am pretty sure. We had a 1999 though and that was perfectly fine. 1998 they corrected that problem. I remember the service guy telling us that. We put 50,000 miles on our 99. The only problem was the F1 gearbox went out at around 47,000 and that cost over 10 grand to replace. Watch out for the 30k service, its a little over 10 grand also.

6 speed is the way to go for sure.

There are some early 1998 VIN's that may have the valve problem!

Other years are fine if the valve, header, and cat issues have been repaired.

 

Certainly a 6 speed late model is the way to go. We just replaced a set of cats and O2 sensors on our 95...not cheap. These cars eat cats quickly. Although there is a good US source for replacement ceramic ones.

 

Ferrari 348 is a rare breed, only 8000 produced.
