Switching from 911 Turbo to F430
perfect time to be a Ferrari buyer as they have been hammered in the current environment ....as has everything else for that matter but hell you'll have no problem getting a 430 F1 dirt cheap compared to a year or more ago...while I'm under the belief that "Daily" is a lower profile no worries type car and Ferrari historically weekends you could make it work.....it's a solid car with less attention needed then the previous models due to the chain drive as mentioned...Good luck
I'm not even sure the R8 should be considered if you
are switching from a 911, they are just so similar. Both are great cars but they are almost like sub exotics IMHO. The R8 is a great car but when I drove one right before driving the lamborghini it was just a touch boring. I say this as a huge Audi fan and the owner of a TT and A6. I personally could not drive the 430 daily and I'm only 29, its seemed much more like a track car than a DD.
I had a modded porsche cab (speed yellow, wheels, lowered, exhaust, blah blah) and currently have a modded ferrari 360 spider. I purchased it in april 06 and then sold the porsche. The ferrari had 4,400 miles and today almost 20k.
I drive it a ton and enjoy it. HOWEVER there is a huge difference in the cars regarding the drving experience.
The ferrari gets a TON of attention and you can NOT just park it anywhere. I have had my car at the body shop atleast 3 times getting minor scratches out of the area adjacent to the engine bay. Everyone is very interested in the looks and unfortunely not everyone is as carefull as you would like. The purse falls off the shoulder and BANG, SLIDE and back to the body shop. A belt buckle meets the paint as the person is looking at the engine bay and moving to the side to get a better look and back to the body shop. Oh LOOOOOK a F E R R A R I, take a photo of me; next to it, ok how about if I sit on the front trunk, oppps a butt dent and back to the body shop. I could go on and on.
Another thing I noticed is that driving the porsche in the mornings on the way to the office, no issues. Driving the Ferrari, a ton of a$$ holes on the road. Oh look at that guy driving in his fancy car and I have been cut off and seen the worker van slide to the emergency lane to bring up the crap on the side of the road to hit your car as you are traveling behind them.
Again; I could go on and on. BUT believe it or not, there are a TON of people that are no so nice on the roads during the week.
Weekend are usually not an issue.
Good luck;
My suggestion, get the Ferrari and another beater car for the week days.

thanksthat`s exactly what I tried to point out in my previous post...
In my opinion the greatest DD exotic is the Audi R8
even more so now that the V10 is available
It has the looks of an exotic but the DD capability of your 997TT
+ you won`t have all that negative attention,
i.e people sitting on your car while it is parked and making pics,people driving up on your side and revving at you with Civics and/or taking pics of your car with their mobile phone etc
just a thought

and I live in South Fla where everyone (seems like) has an exotic car. Even the Benz's are AMG's. I think it is the law here

I was on the way home with my wife from a nice dinner on a Sat. evening and a guy on a tricked out bike pulls up and starts reving next to me (I have a spider, so it was loud), pulls away and then backs down to my drivers door. This must of went on for atleast a couple of minutes before he flew by and was shaking his head (disappointment with me NOT wanting to race him
) - take it to the track if you want to race these machines

If you can deal with the attention then go Ferrari or Gallardo, I sold my Gallardo because it drew too much attention.. everyone wanting to take a photo of it, racing me etc etc. but I do miss the car.. never had any problems with it... but the 996tt is a less stressful car to drive ... even in BOCA

I live in Weston and my office is in Delray Bch, Fla. so I am looking for another car to spread the miles on. We have probably passed each other on the road. Next time I will wave

My daily driver is a Flint Gray Mercedes with a roof & trunk wing (20" wheels) and a sticker = scuderia florida on the side windows
My office is in Sarasota. Were you by any chance the guy with the Spyder at the Lakewood Ranch Country Club a couple weeks ago?
Wow. What a dilemma. I have to chime in.
1. Definitely get the Six Speed! I'm a traditionalist as well. Those 1ms shifts from the F1 trannies might be great if you are racing, but there's nothing like pulling a shifter through the gears and feeling them synch up like butta'.
2. Definitely get the F430! Why? Because you want it. It sounds as if you can handle the financial burden, maintenance or not.
3. The 997TT is a great, great car. With three in the family, you already know that.
4. The one that put the $hit-eating grin on your face when you're driving it...she will be your answer. (I mean the car, of course.
)
My $.02.

I just couldn't drive an R8, knowing that for the same price I can get into a slightly used Gallardo, which is the REAL R8. If flash is not on your agenda, then get silver or blue, and blend in.
Or try and pick up a used 599, I'm sure they've dropped quite a bit recently.

This is a joke right
My local Audi dealer has 3 R8's sitting on the show room floor. I drove the car and it really was disappointing for 130k, maybe I would have considered it in the 90's, and when you find a G car in the 50's you should buy it. I searched for an entire month straight like it was my job for a good Gallardo and found all the cars selling under 100k were not cars I desired. What I learned was you get what you pay for.
OOPs just reread your post
