Price opinion, found a F car I want to buy

Hello all, I have spent most of my time in the 996tt section and some in the muscle car section too. I am trading my C6 Z06 for a 05 F430 and already have a deposite down and looking to do the PPI on Monday or Tues and if car checks out ok pick her up on Wed from Lambo Houston.

The car was at Motorcars International in Springfield MO when I first noticed it and last price I recall was 144-145k from them. I started to think I would just pick up a 06-07 Gallardo when this one showed up at the above dealer at 139,750.

It has a msrp of 189,XXX new and was bought in Oct 05. I am guessing back then buyers were paying a 20-30k premium but not sure. It is possible the car went for in the low 200's.

It has the color I like which is red and I really like the interior which is like a charcoal dark grey or black( I cant tell from photos) with red stitching and red inserts on the pwr daytona seats. It has sheilds,f1,fire ext, some tools and maybe luggage.

Miles are just shy of 7k and they tell me a test showed it has 85% clutch life left. If I picked this car up for 135k would that be a good deal or just mkt?

Tires look like they are different than what the morone sticker said the car came with so I am hoping they are fairly new. I think they are Pirelli right now.

Anything I should be looking for in a car of that year with those miles?

Thanks in advance for your feedback.

Ouch. But I appreciate the feedback. I did offer starting at 125k then when they said no, went to 130k and they said no again so I took some days to cool down and finally just caved in bc the fact that it met all my criteria I figured that was worth some more $.

Did he buy from a dealer or private party? I am guessing he did not have a trade in?

If the car does not check out very very well I will pass, but, by the same token, if they don't like my trade when they see it and want to give me less I will also pass.

I just did not see evidence of any activity that low on a nice car on ebay past sales or anywhere else.

Thanks again! Hope your friend enjoys his F car. Any pics on here of that car?

My friend picked up his F430 from a private seller. It was a distressed seller and they needed the cash fast, so he got a deal. The car is immaculate with a super clean history and no known problems. If the car checks out and they give you fair money for your trade go for it!!! If it feels right do it if not wait, there are currently a lot of nice F430's for sale around that 140 range.

Any other feedback fellow 6speeders? I am buying the car with this 6speeders and we looked long and hard for what the best deal, color, and many other factors we needed to look for in a Ferrari or a Lambo. We did notice that the Lambo owners were being more realistic of the current recession. There are still a lot of Ferrari owners living in the past and are selling their cars for unrealistic prices. However, that does tell me that the Ferrari will probably hold its value better than the Lambo. Just my opinion and we have a Ferrari dealer in San Antonio Texas but do not have a Lambo dealer. Moreover, both of us are true to the first car which is the Porsche turbo which when tuned is nearly impossible to compare with.

car will be 5yrs old in ~4months. you're not getting a deal...mileage is too high for the price you're paying. good luck tho

We certainly are not getting the deal of a lifetime but we are willing to trade that off for some security. Going through the dealer helps us with a trade and allows a great pre purchase inspection. I am not sure where the bottom is but I doubt this car gets below 120s.

Cars aren't investments anymore. If its exactly what you want and the PPI comes back immaculate, then 5k is irrelevant. If it was 30k more than it should be and wasn't your first choice in color, options, etc, then I'd say keep shopping. Best of luck with it and keep us posted.

best post in this thread.

If you are buying a ferrari, the value of your time is probably relatively high. And to find a car with the options you want can take a long time. Don't sweat the $5k if it is the car you want. I wasted 30 days and many hours going to look at cars that I thought might be a better deal - they weren't. If the car has 2 keys, 2 black fobs, and 1 red fob, all books, current records, matching rubber and no paint work, but it. Its not the deal of the century, but its red with black interior. the deals are always on the green cars with blue leather.

$5K isn't a big deal if that car is put together the way you want it and the PPI is clean. Just to play devil's advocate, maybe when the 458 comes out, there will be a dip in 430 prices and an increase in 430 stock as owners sell them to pick up the newer model. just a thought

Yes we did. What we are finding out is that right color, options have a realistic floor. Off beat colors such as yellow even with every option are not good resale cars so we jumped at a great deal on the right color car and options. I guess our downside is $10,000.

congrats. only thing I would disagree with is that yellow is not an off color. I would agree that good colors hold a premium, and in my searches, I found those to be the traditional red, rosso scudaria, and yellow. Atleast that's what other dealers, clubs, and experienced owners would say they...
