should i trade my 599 for the 16M?
guys, although i love my 599, i came across a black/black 16M. The 16M stickers for $326K. my 2007 599 had an original msrp of $353K and has 2700 miles and is in perfect condition. what is a good trade in value if they are asking msrp for the 16M?
I have a completely biased opinion as I abhor any convertible, but aside from that, the Fiorano is just a beautiful car. Somewhat unique as far as F-cars go in being a front engined GT. The 16M is product to appease the masses. Sort of akin to the Panamera and Porsche: do we REALLY want to make this? Is it true to our legacy? It'll be quickly forgotten and I'll bet you'd be rid of it in less than a year.
My $0.02.

I don't get the drop scud. They created a car with greater performance, of which, a good majority of it comes from reduced weight. So they add a convertible option and all it does is add more weight. Now I'm a fan of the convertible so its atypical of me to recommend keeping the GT car, but I think the 599 is the better car. I have only heard good things about the 599.
If you are really jonesing for a convertible consider a used Porsche CGT. Or keep the 599 and just get a 430 convertible.
Remember my opinion is worth what you paid for it.

I don't own either so I guess take this as a grain of salt, but I was at a vehicle leasing agency in Toronto when i went down and they had both of the 430 Spider and a 599, and I don't know what it was but I couldn't keep my eyes off the 599 compared to the 430. I think the presence in the 599 is just much better than any kind of 430, no matter how fast it is.
I agree with some of the above that if you just want a convertible, grab one where you can keep your 599.
To answer your question, I think you might be able to just do a direct trade, but I'm not sure on depreciation with Ferrari's.

The CGT was a great driver's car. absolutely amazing on the track but a bit difficult to drive on the streets as you are always trying to make sure you don't hit anything on the front spoiler. i think the 16M would make a better street car than the CGT with true roadrace capabilities and a real convertible top. but when i look at both cars side by side, the lines are the 599 are definitely sexier.
JMO but isn't a good part of the enjoyment the thrill of the chase and then the initial kill? If I had the ability to, I'd probably get a new exotic every year. At a certain point it doesn't become about "better", "faster", etc. but just change. You've had the 599 and seen what that has to offer. It's not a keeper so it's just a question of when its time is up ?
I have had both, not the 16M but a scud, and honestly the scud is hardcore, but the 599 is a gentleman's car and much nicer on the street. A scud is track worthy, but loud, harsh and the 599 is fantastic and has the all out power. Just put some black HRE wheels or something on it and it would look amazing.
decided to keep the 599 and my GT2. i will consider picking up a 430 spider in the spring if i still want a convertible. the reality is that even if i picked up a 16M, i probably would not track the car. so for me, probably better to keep both cars and just add the spider for half the price of a 16M.
