If I had to guess, there are more small business owners around these parts than any other single occupation.
Hence the entrepreneur which includes small business owners around these parts.

My first post here, just joined today, this is as good a place as any to start I guess.
The wife and I are both in the medical field, and we worked a lot of long hours, are no longer young, and fially going to enjoy life. Currently I have 2 Porsches, but am selling at least 1, possibly both, and shopping for a used Ferrari, not new. Its a toy, and needs to be viewed as such, if you have to struggle to pay for it, or cannot afford proper maintenance or the like, you are probably not ready to own one. Knowing a few Ferrari owners, they are mostly Doctors, and one guy owns 4 companies, he has 6 of them, plus 3 Porsches, and 1 Lambo. He worked hard and took risks, it paid off, he was not given a penny. Cars are his relaxation, and what he collects, and the biggest reason I know wish to own the brand myself.

Lots of people can afford to BUY a Ferrari. However, not too many people can (or are willing to) afford the maintenance/upkeep required. Keep that in mind.

I would buy a 355 spider tomorrow but I refuse to since the maintenance costs for even the most basic upkeep are insanely expensive.

Depending on the model, you can buy a Ferrari for as little as $30k. That's the average price of a new Honda or Toyota.

I'm a truck driver and own a 360

Dino, just because I am curious, may I ask why you didn't like your Vette.

Good question...I am very curious too. C6 Corvettes are fantastic, even base models. Can't imagine what would be so bad to cause you to sell the car after just 3 short months of ownership???

Build qulity and customer service was my reason! The performace and fun factor of the vett was amazing. The interior started to get to me, i thought i could get use to the plastic dash and doors but i didnt. The cabin heating up burning my feet after about 1 hour of use, made me furious. After spending 60k this was unacceptable. Plus the way the dealer treats you after you buy their car is uncomparable to the german brands i delt with. I dont even want to talk about resale value.

Its sad to hear that, and thanks for the reply. Its always good to know peoples reasoning behind things. All to often I see first hand, or hear from friends about dealership issues.
Even the experiences I have had are infuriating. We ussed to live near a Porsche dealer, but travelled a great distance to another dealer, because they were so horrible. Then they wondered why they always struggled as a dealer. Their sales staff didn't even know basic things about their own product line. Its amazing when a Porsche sales man, knows nothing about the cars he sells, so often times just made things up. When I contacted the owner about it, nothing was done, not even a reply.

I agree with just about everyone. Its all on how your finances are setup etc etc. The guys and gals here come from all walks of life, united under one passion. I can "afford" a Ferrari, but I felt a truck with a 5th wheel and 4 wheelers suited mine and my families needs and wants. I have 5 children, and I'm at that point in life where I want to do fun things together as a family vs just myself and my wife or 1 of the kids. I work in the auto parts industry.

I’ve been looking at this site for a while now and I’ve joined just to throw my two cents in. I’ve dreamed of owning a Ferrari since I was a kid – a 348 GTS in fact. I knew I’d need a good job to get one and that motivated me through school and university exams etc… However, as soon as I got a job (mechanical engineer in oil industry) and had money coming in which I’d never had before I went over the top – got an apartment with only a small deposit, bought a BMW almost purely on finance, went on unnecessary holidays (2 month road trip across the USA for example). As such I got into a lot of debt, then I got a shock when the roof fell in on my apartment – more money needed! It was a pretty depressing state of affairs to be in; when was I going to get this Ferrari I’d dreamed of for so long?!?!

After this happened, I thought about what I was doing… I had a job that paid well enough, but I wasn’t being sensible with it, and in all honestly if I had been earning more I would simply have been spending more. I drew up an excel spreadsheet and noted all my outgoings, without sugar coating it (it’s very tempting to lie to yourself – “that doesn’t count as it’s a one off” etc) and realized that I had to change my life style: I had 2 bank loans, a student loan, 3 credit cards, an overdraft and a mortgage. I changed my lifestyle significantly and as such, with the exception of the mortgage all debts are gone and now all the money that was being used to pay off debt is being saved.

My point is really to demonstrate what has previously been said: focusing on what you do with your money rather than on how much you can potentially earn is a much more effective way of realizing your goals in life.

Hopefully in a few years time I will be posting up pics of my first Ferrari but until then I will continue to enjoy the chase!

Bingo, the only reason i'm not interested in one is the cost of repair and maintenance. I cannot do repairs myself and where i live the dealer has a license to steal. Sorry but bills for 8 or 9k i can do without

I have yet to purchase my first Ferrari, but I know that soon I will be doing so and I want to know how it is that you go about buying a Ferrari!
Your input would be great!
Politician... sponsored by a Union..... does not really matter which one... but.. the bigger the better... alternatively... blackmail will do too.
Seriously, a Ferrari should be the last thing you buy. There are many other, better investments that you may want to focus on first. You can always rent a Ferrari for a day.. make some nice pictures and post them on your facebook page. Nobody will know... unless you tell them.
Become a plumber... a really good one and you can afford a Ferrari, or perhaps a carpenter. as long as you are good!!!. Not kidding!!

My 2000 360 arriving today. I spend 30.000$ and a friend of mine another 20.000$. Yes we do have a kind of partnership although the car is fully registered on me. We did this because we dont use the car for DD and we can split the running costs. I make 60K a year from rentals and job. I pay 25K for taxes.
