Tips on buying a Ferrari 360 Modena... Help Please!

Hey guys. I am looking to buy a 2000 Ferrari 360 Modena 6-Spd with around 12k-16k miles and in nice shape. Could you guys please tell me what I need to look for when buying one. Anything I should know about, as far as particular "bad" things that are common in 360 Modena's, or any other questions I should ask besides the obvious ones that would help me determine whether the car is a keeper.

Also, In what price range should I be looking to pay for what I am looking for.

Any and all insight/help would be GREATLY appreciated!

This is the first Ferrari I would buy, and I don't want to make a $100k+ mistake. I want to go into the buying experience with both eyes open with as much knowledge from you current owners as possible helping me!

Thanx in advance!

Be sure to get all the key options: shields, color calipers, challenge grills, leather headliner, etc. I always prefer them fully loaded as much as possible.

As to price, my guess is 110 - 120k. I think asking prices will be in the 120 - 130k range.

First get over to F-chat and read for a few hours.

History and documentation are the key.

Make sure all the major services have been done, with at least one belt service completed.
Make sure the cam variator issue has been addressed on the car if it is 99 or 2000. MOst will have been done but verify.
Personally, I am with you in wanting some miles on the car, and would see that there are no long lapses in regular driving or use of the car.
If you are tall you may want to look for a car with racing seats. I prefer them as the daytona's hit me around the upper shoulder blades and are not as comfortable as the racing shells.
Have fun looking, get to know some guys in your area who are owners and might be able to help you with info on a particular car. Its a pretty small group of cars and owners and likely someone will know some history on your car if you know where and who to ask.
Enjoy the search. Awesome cars.

Although certain options maybe important to some buyers the condition and service history are far more important things to consider. Calipers, grills, and headliner can easily be added.

Hey Andrew, whats up? Hope you are getting some time to take the cs out for proper exercise...!
That is one very impressive list of Pcars, never noticed it before. I admire your will power, as it looks like a couple of those, at least, were keepers.

What he said. I was in your exact position about a year ago and Riverflyer and many other Fchat members were very helpful. Some of the early cars had frame cracking issues around transmission mounts, have the car inspected. I bought my 2000 360 6 speed with sport seats in August of '06 for $124k, it just had its annual check up and all was ok.
