F355 To buy or not to buy.

I have the opportunity to get a good deal on a 99 355F1 Spyder Silver/Gray with 13,500. I would prefer a 360, but it's just too much money. I know this car requires engine removal for the belts, but is the other service more/less expensive than a 360?

Thanks guys.

Other than the belt service, the costs are pretty comparable.

I would get one with a real gearbox, though. The F1 crap is at its most horrible in the 355.

Guess it figures, the first edition. I've read there is delay between each press of the paddle(s). I don't know that I trust my skills on such an expensive engine.

Thanks,

No, I don't. That's probably why it's cheap.

If it's cheap enough, buy it and flip it

I would lean away from the Spyders, the top is operated by a series of microswitches, thus they tend to be an electronics nightmare in my experience.

I have heard most people just end up opperating their top manually due to the electronic issues. Also with the 355 I would go for a manual tranny as the F1 was in a primative state.

I actually heard that the 355 F1 transmission is pleasant to operate but the AUTO mode sucks *****. If you enjoy sophiscation and F1 technology then I suggest you go with the F1. The auto mode is very jerky and uselss and your gonna end up shifting with the paddles.

It's not cheap enough to justify the cost. I may have to pass. I just can 't get over my feeling that Ferrari's need to be RED!

I was in your same dilema, but ended up with the 360. Anyways, you might want to check it out:

I wish I could afford that. My career is sort of up in the air, too. Damn that responsibility thing!!!
