that's an boatload of cash...Jas, if you had to do it all over again, do you think you would've paid that much for your F40?

Its insane how even though they made so damn many of those, they appreciated in price big time.

That's probably one of the lowest mileage F40's in existence which would obviously demand a premium....

Ferrari of Atlanta recently brokered a car with similar mileage for ~$650K.

RufMD, do you think you'd ever consider selling your F40 for the right price, or is it a keeper?

Can't imagine parting with it, I really can't. I have always maintained that my holy grail is the McLaren F1. I think I would have some regret putting the F40 towards that even.

I want my cake and eat it too

I can see prices of F40's approaching a million bucks again...the car is iconic and has performance to match. Scary fast...

Depends what the market was at the time. When I bought my F40, 350k was top dollar and I paid 20k over that to find a pristine 1200 mile car that has gone on to garner some strong Concours awards (Cavallino platinum/Major Award Best F40, FCA Platino/Coppa Bella, Ault Park Concours Best in Class and others).

At the time, I felt I paid over the market to get the right car. Two years later, its a moot point. Would I pay 750k for a pristine F40 now given the choice of other similar priced cars ? YES, I have the benefit of having lived with it for 2 yrs. The car is a monster performer with beautiful lines. I get as much enjoyment driving it, as I do looking at it in the garage.

Another one with less than 1k miles just sold for 675k, Atlanta area I believe.

Garage queens will always command more, but there is a problem with buying them. Firstly, lack of use of Italian cars always spells mechanical issues. They have to be driven regularly and given "Italian tune ups" (ie. go for a blast and clean everything out)

Secondly, lets say you pay a 100-150k premium for a low mileage car. Each mile you drive it, hurts the very low mileage exclusivity that you paid for. You are almost constrained not to drive it.

Best move is a well maintained, moderate mileage car well bought in the 400's. These cars are moving north of 500k in a hurry.
