Changes to the Auto Cafe event in Tampa

Hi everyone, I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and are getting ready to ring in the New Year with a bang.
I wanted to get everyone's opinion on the Auto Café event. We have had a great run since we started in June of this year. Over the last 2 months I have noticed that attendance has taken a drastic turn. This is the cooler season so I would have assumed our numbers would have grown. That being said I am looking to make some changes.
First of all I started this event in New Tampa in a parking lot and the hours were 9AM-11AM held on the 2nd Saturday of every month. This was a good time from the feedback I received. Lately we had extended the event to noon and had added lunch at Vortex Motorsport. I feel this event is more about meeting in the morning and that we had more of a following so we should return to that concept.
I will not host a January event simply so we can regroup and gather feedback from all of you on what the event should change into.
Please post up if you agree that moving back to New Tampa near a coffee shop and keeping the hours 9AM-11AM is the way to go.
If you have other suggestions please share those as well.
This event started simply to provide a venue for car people of all types to hang out and look at other cars. It truly isn't associated with any shops or business even though Vortex Motorsport provided us with a great location and hospitality.
Thanks in advance for your suggestions and support.
- Troy

Would you be interested in combining in turning this into a charity poker run? A friend of my wife lost her 3 year old daughter to an unexplained seizer on Christmas day if you could imagine. I would like to try and raise money in her daughters name for research.

I have unfortunately spent the last 6-7 months working saturdays. my schedule changed JAN 1st, so I plan on attending meets from this point on. I have also had problems with my car and it has spent some time at the dealership which kind of took away my automotivation (i just trademarked that).

last meet I went to was followed by a drive and then lunch. I really enjoyed that. I just moved to westshore, so of course moving back to BB downs would be my luck. I am prob 5 mins from vortex at my new place.

I hope this thing gets revived because I was looking forward to coming back out.

I would not react to sharply. The C&C event in Orlando had way lower then usual numbers for the Oct, Nov and Dec months. I believe with the holidays, bad timing how the weekend days fell in conjunction with other plans, etc, is the cause for the down turn.

I would imagine that this upcoming event in January will be a much better turn out over here in Orlando. I actually liked the venue for Vortex, except the parking lot was a bit beat up.

+1. Now that the holidays are over I will be attending more meets. Porscheboy997 will be my wingman. Expect both of us.

After receiving input from several online car forums and discussing the event details with Doug Turner from Vortex Motorsport and Jason Poland with Sound Designs, the decision has been made to keep the Auto Café event at the Vortex Motorsport/Sound Designs facility. Thank you all for your input.

The next event will be help on February 13th from 9AM-11AM

On another note, I will no longer be involved with the event. I have accepted a job offer in Washington D.C. and will be moving on Saturday January 30th. I hope this event continues to grow and stays around for years to come.

For those of you who I have met, it has been a pleasure and please feel free to contact me any time.

Good luck to Vortex Motorsport and Sound Designs as well.

- Troy
