$1k/sf is not that bad, it depends on what region you are in. Around here thats pretty close to the average costs for a custom luxury/estate home to be built...but thats owner cost, not construction "cost" (meaning to the company building it).

Very "interesting" design nonetheless, I can't wait to see how your interior comes out, I love seeing steel/aluminum integrated into residential applications.

Where do you live? That is super exspensive by today's cost let alone years ago. $400 a foot gets pretty damn gucci around here and we are considered very exspensive building costs.

Finally some exterior pics of the garage!

Framers moved off today and took the trailer so I can finally start to see the garage.

I just popped across this thread and that is a beautiful home. I am so jealous too because I spent my early years like elementary & junior high in Vail area. My brother was actually the very first snowboarder to actually ride Beaver Creek.

We lived in house similar to your location tucked away on a mountain it was insane and seeing your home just brings back memories.

Also congratulations on the baby girl

What are you using for the siding? I like the rustic look.

It is reclaimed 100 year old spruce off buildings in Austria, sounds crazy exspensive but not really, I have a local importer who brings it in in containers and gives me a great deal. Then factor in no need to ever paint or stain and cost is not bad.

After checking out your thread I think we should swap houses every so often so you don't need a cabin and I don't have to buy a house somewhere warm!!

Done when can I move in? Couldn't tell from the photo but looked alot like the siding off of a building we took down at our farm in Ohio it was built in 1865 lasted until 1986 and even then we saved all the parts.
