don't have to use water to heat the drive way do you? isn't there a system that uses electricity/wires? Could get a solar panel or wind mill and have it store electricity. Or use the electricity to heat the hot water tank. Just a thought.

Electricity uses coal and that is one of our worst environmental problems.
I would love to use wind or sun but we are north facing and have poor sun exposure and no place for windmills.
We researched geothermal heat for the house and drive and the cost was like 150k in addition to the normal infrastructure of the house heat systeml As much as I want to be green can't make those numbers work as no payback for over 20 years. Instead we are running high effieceny boilers and in floor heat tubes in concrete and super insulating the house. The last house we just finished averaged about $350 in gas a month to heat in January and is over 7k sqft.
If anybody knows more about this subject I would love to learn more!!

Actually it has sewer and water connections. 2 acres. Leave it to a realtor to ask how much! (just having fun) We paid 450k for the lot but today would sell for probably 600 plus

So was yesterday a snow day or were you able to make some progress on finishing the roof for the tower?

we dodged the weather and are making good progress, we also recieved the window delivery and started putting the rigid foam insulation up on the roof. This is the first step of getting the roof dried in.
We also started the plumbers this week. I will post some shots when tower is done .

MountainC4 -

Floor plan looks nice and well thought out. I am a general contractor in California and had a quick question for you on the two bathrooms up stairs. The ones that service the bedrooms, not the guest suite. What style of tub are you considering on the tub/shower combos? Material, depth, etc? if you know.
