Well here's some follow-up information since I couldn't find the answers to this on boards anywhere. I called a local LiftMaster dealer and they recommended the JackShaft opener 3800. It can go on either side and be hard-wired in if desired. There is a backup battery and a remote light can be wired anywhere.

I can't recommend it yet, but it's the one I'm getting: http://www.liftmaster.com/consumerwe...lJackshaft.htm

The type of door which has tracks running right along the top of the ceiling is called a High-lift Door (duh ).

I was in Germany for 12 days and when I got back it looked like this.

Might be hard to see, but that's hot and cold filtered, softened water hook-ups

My electrical sub-panel and on the lower-right a line to my 90 gal compressor in the basement and rough-in for central vac - central vac for the cars - YAY!

The high-ceiling for the lift

Little character sills for the other 2 stalls

There is some kind of water-proof **** going up the walls to about 4 ft. I don't have drains anyways, so I probably won't wash inside, but maybe...I'm sure I'll have a reason to try it out at some point

Some updates to the garages exterior. Also, worthless in the pictures, but the walls are all sanded now ready for primer and paint and the ceiling has had it's knock-down treatment.

Hi Bif,

I'm local to you and have installed the liftmasters. Very nice. Make sure the garage tracks are angled to the ceiling so you have max headroom for a lift.

I to am interested in the heater. I'm all wired and piped for gas but need to find the right heater.

Cheers
