Opinions on humidity affecting epoxy
I'm scheduled to have my floor done in a week and the stuff being used is a 2-part epoxy with flakes and a clearcoat sealer. They said it will take 2 days to do and then cars must stay off for one week. It is hot and humid now here in NY and a friend told me I should wait until it's cooler and less humid before doing it b/c the epoxy won't cure right. Opinions? Thanks
Humidity will affect the curing time and there are definetly some restrictions on the temperatures for application. I belive the window is something to the effect of 50F-90F but verify with specific product(s) that will be used. Also, 1 week prior to parking cars on it may be a bit optimistic as well. If you are having it done professionally get their gurantee/warrantee in writing. Epoxy will last for a very very long time but its all in proper preparation and application.
Here's the link that gives alot of meaningless(to me) specs. I've e-mailed them with my expected temperature/humidity for the week and asked them to provide walk/drive drying times.
