good price and a great product....one of the best mods I have done on my 996

 

sorry for being such a noob at this engine stuff... but how does hits affect a 996 2004 4S? power wise? sound wise?

 

My appologies, I should have included performance numbers! If you search on this board you can find actual dyno graphs from other members, but in general:

> 3.4L's can expect app. 26-28hp gain and 24-26lbs.ft torque gain
> 3.6L's can expect app 22-24hp and 20-22lbs.ft of torque gain
> 3.8L's can expect 25-27hp gains and 23-25lbs.ft torque gains.

These numbers can vary car to car, but are pretty accurate. The range in hp numbers also can vary depending on mods done to the vehicle. Installation is quick, and even if you do it yourself, it shouldn't take you more than about 2 hours. A great bang-for-the-buck mod!

Also, are these compatible if I were to go supercharged later on?

These plenums- are they re-done stock ones that wouldn't affect the warranty or do they stand out? Do you have to do any re-tuning or just swap it out to get these gains or do you need to do the exhaust and intake?

Wheelman, the plenum is cast aluminum whereas the stock unit is black plastic, so it is possible that the dealer would pick it up. However, the unit goes in behind the air intake and is tucked away, so they would only see it if your air intake and misc hardware were off of the car. If you just look into the engine bay, nothing looks different. You do not need to do any other mods to realize the performance gains of the plenum, just bolt it in and go.

how do you know if you have a e-gas or non e-gas car?

 

You can tell just by looking under the hood. Below is a picture of an e-gas and a non e-gas engine bay. Notice the difference in the throttle body where the air intake mates up. There is a throttle cable on the passenger side of the non e-gas car, whereas the e-gas car has a solenoid and no throttle cable. Check it out:

With all due respect why wouldn't Porsche have done such a thing for such significant gains? This seems (to me) too good to be true...
